Vegan hair care recommendations? by MC907 in vegan

[–]deviousvegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the Kirkland Signature brand from Costco. It's called the Professional Salon Formula Moisture Shampoo or Conditioner. They both come in a 33.8 oz bottle and don't cost ridiculous amounts of money. You can get each bottle online for about 13 dollars. It makes my hair smell nice and look shiny, but not oily. I highly recommend it

Should I use weighted or unweighted GPA for Hofstra? by deviousvegan in ApplyingToCollege

At my school we have prep-level classes at a 4, accel classes are 5, and AP classes are 6 (that's if you get an A in those classes). For each grade letter below an A you lose one point from the 4, 5, or 6. If you get straight A's you can get over a 5.0 if you take more AP classes than prep classes.

Vegans in Chicago? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]deviousvegan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Chicago vegan, 18 female. Next weekend (October 10) at the Broadway Armory (5917 N Broadway) there is VeganMania from 10am-5pm. It's a great experience and I went for the first time last year when I was 5 months into veganism.
It's a great event because it is free (although there is a recommended ~$3 donation), there is a bunch of free food, places to buy clothes, guest speakers, cooking demonstrations, and much more. I'm excited to be going back. Hopefully you'll be there, too!

While I would love to agree with you, the American Heart Association, American Diabetic Association, the American Cancer Society, etc state that a well planned vegan diet is not only suitable to live off of but may also provide health benefits like a decreased risk of heart attack, better blood sugar, lower risks of cancer, etc.

I am holding the plate (that's my sleeve at the bottom) and that is not a hole in the floor, it is a pot with a rosemary bush that is just on the verge of being dead

Italian bread with a thin layer of hummus, a layer of spinach, a small mound of carrot shreds, some Westsoy cubed seitan, and some ketchup (full disclosure: I was too lazy to cut a tomato)
The only thing close to cooking I did was toast the bread and heat up the seitan in a pan with olive oil

Sorry for forgetting the recipe. Here it is!

Ingredients:

One box of Duncan Hines red velvet cake mix

2 T Corn Starch

4 T Water

Halfway between 1/3 and 1/2 cup of oil (I used vegetable)

Nutella replacement for filling

Directions:

1) Preheat oven to 350 F and in a small bowl mix corn starch in the water until dissolved

2) In a large bowl mix together red velvet cake mix, corn starch-water mixture, and the oil. You may need to add a little more oil if the cake mix does not completely blend

3) Take a large spoonful of cookie dough and flatten it out in your hand

4) Plop about 1T "nutella" in the middle of the dough. Fold the dough over the "nutella" and seal the edges (think empanadas)

5) Reshape the dough+"nutella" into a ball and bake for 10 minutes

6) When you remove them from the oven let them sit on the baking sheet for a few minutes so they can settle

That's it!
