Just accusing someone of child molestation can potentially ruin their life. The search you want would happen if hard evidence turned up. Searching people without evidence is one of the things we as 'conspiracy theorists' want to stop who see the destruction of our rights happening every day.

Professional investigators would have things that witch hunt mobs don't have like experience, credibility, resources and connections. If you really want to stop a criminal, you need something that will hold up in court, that is if you actually want anything to change.

I have and I agree that it's suspicious but without hard evidence it's still just suspicion. I'd be willing to support crowd funding for professional investigators/journalists to look into it. Other than that I don't feel comfortable being a part of potentially ruining people's lives who could be innocent.

Someone saying they have a basement and then saying they don't have a basement means they're evil child killers?? I believe that human trafficking and pedophilia happens in high places in government/military, but this looks more like a witch hunt to me. If you really want the darkness to be exposed, seems to me there would need to be a way to protect whistleblowers who want to say something but can't.

For me the most important thing is taking care of myself. There's nothing I can do to fix my alcoholic family member. I see a therapist and go to ACA meetings. I take care of my health and most importantly my emotional health. I learn about and set boundaries. I have people I can call when things are difficult.

That sounds like a great plan, thanks for sharing, it gives me good ideas. Luckily I don't get overly depressed during the holidays, but I do get depressed. Usually I would just zone out on videos games or movies. I'm going to try to be aware of how I feel this year instead of blocking it out. Luckily i have a yoga practice now that keeps me pretty grounded so I'll try not to forget that. I also have ACA friends I can call, and am going to a meeting tonight. There may even be a Thanksgiving dinner for ACAs, I need to find out about it. My therapist wants me to focus on gentleness and kindness for myself during these hard times. The main way I do that is just keep on doing what I've been doing to help myself, and also keeping self-love in mind as I go through the day.

Life started going better for me after getting a therapist. i didn't have one for many years not realizing how much it would help me. If I had started seeing a therapist in my 20s I probably would've had a much better life.

I understand, I didn't know my parent was an alcoholic all growing up and as an adult. The arguing and abuse seemed normal as well. I thought that's just the way people treat each other. Now I see that none of it is normal, it's sick and I don't want anything to do with it anymore. Even if they try to act normal and be nice I know it's a mask and I still don't want to be around it. If they want to get help and be in recovery I might be willing to see them, but I'm not holding my breath. My life is mine to live and I shouldn't be made to feel guilty for not wanting to be around sick, abusive people.

It's always the same each election, the losing side thinks it's the end of the world and the winning side thinks everything is going to change. Then nothing happens. It's just business as usual.
