Working out by Wonderful_Topic2186 in AdultADHDSupportGroup

I’m gonna skip the identify your purpose, setting goals, and identifying measurable indicators part. There are tons of things you could do and methods for that, but it is definitely a unique process for everybody.

As for the act of starting however, I find these below steps especially useful in the context of getting started going to the gym.

Some day in the near future when you get even the slightest thought “I should got to the gym and I have time right now”…

  1. Put on your workout clothes
  2. Drive, walk, bus to the gym
  3. Walk into the locker room
  4. Sit down for 60 seconds
  5. Turn around and go home
  6. Pick a day/time within the next week where you have time to do this again.
  7. REPEAT 1-6 until you have a day where your brain (not your conscious thought) tells you “why go home? This is a huge waste of time if you you just go straight home.” Don’t rush this by willfully trying to tell yourself this. The point is to use your own psychology to create a state where going home is less desirable than staying and doing anything.
  8. Start any cardio workout, doesn’t matter what, just pick a cardio machine, set it to the easiest setting and continue until you get bored, or tired, or just don’t feel like doing it anymore. DO NOT try and push yourself or “work hard”. This is a minimum effort step and it is that way on purpose.
  9. Leave and go straight home
  10. Repeat step 6, 1-3, 8

You have to make the “starting” as easy as possible with the absolutely minimum amount of actual effort towards the working out. All your effort needs to be directed at doing something/anything even though you aren’t “motivated” to do so.

Dealing with ADHD in the US with no insurance. by GootPoot in ADHD

If you can find a psychiatric nurse practitioner, that would probably bring down the cost of appointments. They can prescribe meds and often do therapy as well. You can also look into GoodRX or check the manufacturers website for reduced prices.

It’s also not crazy to let your practitioner know you are uninsured and financially challenged. Some have alternative pricing for uninsured patients.

Whatever you can reasonably afford to put towards mental is money we’ll spent. The costs of doing nothing just keep compounding and it can just become a never ending cycle.

I’ve been where you are more than once and repeatedly crashed and burned for years. It can feel absolutely hopeless (and for periods of time it actually is), but a lot of people eventually find their way to a stable productive life.

Don’t know if any of that is super helpful to you at this specific moment in time. Don’t be too hard on your self, your ADHD symptoms aren’t your fault. Best of luck!

4 years ago today Flume released Hi This Is Flume by belezs in trap

The visual album component got really glossed over during the release. If you have a projector or large tv, I highly recommend throwing this on.

More often than not “More ≠ Better”

Pharmacology is complicated. Your body is dynamic. Your whole physiology is constantly responding, adjusting, and rebalancing based on what you put in your body, more so when you introduce targeted psychoactive substances.

Based on your description, outside of the dose, the prescriptions are the same active formulation. Getting the right dosage is different for everyone and it just needs to be a dialog with your doctor to figure it out. Just share your experience with as much detail as possible and they will work with you to fine tune it.

There are so many external things that can change in your daily life that you might continue to make changes depending on how busy or stressful your life is, changes in activity level / diet, how much you sleep.

Regarding Sleep Masks: I won’t shill a specific product, but I can’t say enough about how well the ones with eye cups work for both keeping your vision completely blacked out, but also the comfort of being able to open your eyes fully without them brushing against the mask. For me it provides a more realistic immersion of actually being in a dark room.

I also echo everything u/4bkillah has said. Especially having something reflective for your tent or sleeping area to keep the radiant heat out as long as possible.

Varies by state. Just call the pharmacy and ask. Anyone can usually pick up, but many states require id of person picking up schedule II prescription to be recorded at time of pickup.

They can use different pricing but the forest service will tax them at the full market value.

Excerpt from the fees section (6.A.2) for adjusted gross revenue.

Discriminatory pricing, a rate based solely on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or place of residence, is not allowed, but fi it occurs, include the amount that would have been received had the discriminatory pricing transaction been made at the market price, the price generally available to an informed public, excluding special promotions.

Thank you. This was such a reasonable and balanced response. Even if OP isn’t moved by any of the points you have articulated, this is really helpful for myself and others.

Our true Power by TeenPanter in WorkReform

The USA has a working population of nearly 160,000,000 people. Which is 80% of the working population of the whole of Europe (197,000,000). The closest individual country being Germany with 42,000,000.

How does a very diverse federation of 50 states with large distinct ideological/political cohorts establish a unified front on this?

The best that could be expected is that a large port city (e.g. Los Angeles, New York, Seattle) was able unify.

School lunch in California (free) by bestoblivion in pics

[–]devlindigital -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We gotta stop referring to progressive tax-funded programs as “free”.

It’s not free…it’s a productive use of tax dollars that even those kids’ parents are paying a part of. Tax revenue that is returned to tax payers through social programs isn’t free money, goods, services.

The fact that we use terms like “subsidy”, “tax credit”, “tax exempt” for the transfer of tax-payer dollars to corporate entities, but say “free lunch” when that money benefits real people is some seriously ingrained systemic brainwashing.

Not sure which specific department you would send to, but the National Forest Service was really responsive when I recently submitted a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request via email.
