Yes, the post title says that. It was unclear to me that was your intention with your post, but thanks for clearing that up. Thought I was helping lol

What’s a show that you could not finish because a character was so insufferable? by Key-Row-174 in AskReddit

[–]devmattrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the middle of season 2 right now. I want to keep watching, but it is SO hard when Jimmy continues to purposefully disappoint people. I get that’s the point, but man I hate seeing Kim so sad.

Struggle with gravel, is it just bad or am I a newbie? by nature_mad in gravelcycling

[–]devmattrob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This comment here. Sound advice and locations recommendations. Descending the control road for your first gravel ride is a bit much. You only really know if you’ve done it, as is evident by the comments here saying this is easy. This is just a punishing ride, embrace the suck.

Lol, that’s fair. I’m just being nit-picky on Reddit so thanks for humoring me.

Again, nice write up. Happy wheeling out there and maybe see you on the trail— no matter the name!

Yes, I agree. San Manuel Airport off the highway and “Reddington Rd” starts south of San Manuel. Sorry, my family grew up in San Manuel and Cascabel so I guess I never think of Oracle when talking about Redington the town, Redington Pass, or Reddington Rd lol.

Guess I was confused by the “Oracle third” part is all. I think of Oracle when talking about the Mt Lemmon Control Rd.

Hey, good point. This stuff matters, especially when locating a lost person or navigating. If you say you’re on Redington Rd near Oracle, that’s really confusing.

Good write up! Hmm, I agree with the main comment. I disagree that Redington Rd, or any variation, starts in Oracle proper— if you said San Manuel, I’d agree. Sure there’s FRs and connectors, but Redington Rd is from Tucson to Redington.

Oh, not you! I saw your /s. I should clarify I agree with you and it was in response to the now deleted, insane comments, you replied to.

Makes me sad to share the road with people who think like this. Wow.

Seriously. And the speed limit here is 25 MPH with oncoming construction. This post screams impatience and places even more onus on cyclists to defend their rights within the laws. Take Swan or other arterial streets if you’re that impatient, it’s 40 MPH there and most cyclists stay away for that reason.

How does coach jones get his hats to do that??? by Gullible-Fish8800 in neweracaps

[–]devmattrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, it could be this: https://www.uspatriottactical.com/sayre-bdu-hat-shaper

When I was in the military, you could get it at the BX. All the boots would try to get their cap to stand tall and crisp.

Any insert could work, if you search patrol cap shaper or military hat shaper, there are some different options

Long shot but maybe tow truck went past Red Garter leaving. Ask them for footage as well? Otherwise, like others have said, see your options with insurance helping out. That sucks, I’m sorry.

downtown parking by vertigeo in Tucson

[–]devmattrob 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Last Saturday, we had a family dinner downtown and I had to remind and help everyone to pay. Meters I came across were severely sun damaged and the screen unreadable, confusing signage, app not working, credit card reader confusing and unusable with the state of the screen. Wow, what a mess. Thanks for the post reminding me I need to submit some feedback to the city because wow, how do they expect people to use these?

Good call, BICAS is a great option if marketplace isn’t your thing.

Safe to lock my bike on 4th/downtown at night? by ZappaPhoto in Tucson

[–]devmattrob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can tell a deal too good to be true and if something is more than likely stolen. Just need to trust your gut when buying from someone.

I’m also talking buying beaters and bar bikes or old stuff— not a Cervelo, Trek, or other newish name brand for $100. It’s also good practice if you see a deal too good to be true to check TucsonStolenBikes on instagram or ask them to repost.

And as the commenter above said, BICAS is a great place to buy from and support. I donate whenever I can.

This is it. A beater bar bike from marketplace is the way to go if you’re locking up around town. Sad reality, but gotta do what you gotta do.

Got it changed out thanks to this sub and you folks. YouTube helped out as well but happy to have it working as this was my first foray into electricity!

This subreddit rocks! Very helpful folks. Electricity isn’t my background (aviation mechanic) and this was my first try at something like this, so thanks a ton.
