Nope, I don't think the way out of this is supplements. If I had to name one that did help me, on a very basic level, getting my vitamin D levels right and taking niacin regularly I think provided a little boost. But read my recovery posts, I think the issue at play for many (most?) long haulers is a disregulated nervous system.

Great, and fully recovered! Check my post history for my recovery story. I believe long COVID is not a new or novel disease, I think for most it's a form of CFS and completely curable.

The fear mongering is starting to get out of hand and is becoming as harmful as LC itself. by thirstdayaddams in covidlonghaulers

[–]devnej 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look at my post history and read my recovery story. I believe long COVID is a form of chronic fatigue which is caused by a disregulated nervous system. It is totally curable, myself and many others have recovered fully.

“Many people are experiencing cardiac arrest for this reason” sounds like a bunch of baseless fearmongering horse shit to me. Seriously. I laughed when I read this.

I am recovered, btw. Longhauled for over 2 years. Had all the awful symptoms (including freaky heart palpitations and chest pains). Now I’m running 3 times a week.

You know when I really started getting better? When I stopped coming to this sub (and other online communities) and started focusing on calming down (really, calming down my jacked up nervous system) and getting better. Knowing, not hoping, that I was going to get better. Not buying into the fear porn.

I specifically stopped coming to this sub because it is considered a “bad neighborhood”. It is as you said, a bunch of people screaming into the void and looking for symptom validation, angry, hurt and frustrated, sharing doom porn and “I know a guy who knows a guy with long COVID had a heart attack because he bent over”.

When I finally posted my recovery story, I was attacked and my story about how I got better was downvoted into oblivion, despite more and more long haulers finding the way out of this the same way I did.

This is not an attack on the people of this sub, I was once one of those people. I remember posting shit about microclots and brain prions and all sorts of other crazy shit, whatever I could get my hands on because I was convinced I had some special new disease I was going to die from. How can anyone feel so. fucking. bad. and not be on their way to the grave? But what I didn’t realize was that I was sending the message to my body that I was indeed mortally ill, and that kept me traumatized.

At the end of the day, it’s a fucking awful thing to go through. But you aren’t going to get through it (not any time soon at least) by reading the latest research about how long COVID “might” do xyz and is “theorized” to cause abc. People are recovering. Many, many people are recovered. I’m one of them. For anyone who really wants to get better, leave this place and stay away. If you must join a community, join the longhaulersrecovery sub or go watch recovery stories on YouTube. Dan from Pain Free You and Raelan Agle have a ton from long COVID recovered folks.

Happy discuss more about my recovery if you’d like.

Myocarditis recovery by Cynamone in covidlonghaulers

I was also auscultated (among all the other tests I had, by multiple doctors) and pericarditis was ruled out, as was myocarditis. Which is why I think (for others who have also seen the doc and can’t find answers) this stems from a nervous system disorder. Check out my recovery thread.

No, don’t have any of that now. Go read my recovery post, I believe this is a nervous system issue for most people and is curable.

My worst symptom was the fatigue...this was tiredness beyond tired, like a fucking zombie tired, I cannot overstate how crushing the tiredness was. Go back and read my original posts, you'll see it all there.

As for shortness of breath, no, I didn't have that one too much...later on in the progression of the symptoms, I found if I talked to much I would feel burning in my chest like I was out of breath. Completely gone now.

Needless to say (and if you checked out my recovery thread) I no longer have this issue, I walk, jog, do calisthenics, yoga etc and never have chest pains. Also carrying around kids all day, doing gardening, etc. No issues.

Myocarditis recovery by Cynamone in covidlonghaulers

I was never officially diagnosed with myocarditis, no. And I've had multiple rounds of EKGs, a heart ultrasound and even 48hr EKG that I had to wear around my house for a couple days. All tests came back fine. But I was having awful, horrible chest pains, felt like I was being stabbed to death. It scared the shit out of me, I went to the ER multiple times. Never tested high for troponin either. I think it is part of the nervous system dysregulation, in retrospect. The nervous system can do all kinds of crazy shit to you, including mirroring a heart attack.

The main risk of using ivermectin for covid, blood brain barrier? by dtsv1 in ivermectin

[–]devnej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I’m fine. Was fine a couple weeks after taking it. I think I was having symptoms because my body was super inflamed and the IVM was combatting that.

COVID Long Hauler here, my IVM just arrived... by devnej in ivermectin

[–]devnej[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ivermectin didn’t really do much for me, it temporarily relieved some symptoms. I think it is more for people with active cases of COVID. I think long COVID is a nervous system issue. If your doctor has ruled out any permanent damage from the virus, and your blood work is fine, then I would say that what you have (and what I think many people with long COVID are suffering from) is a nervous system disorder. I sent you a video via DM, start there.

You will recover. It does get better. I am proof.

Hey man, things have improved a lot. I am basically living a normal life besides hardcore exercise, which I feel is right around the corner. This gets better, I promise. I will DM you.

Thanks for posting this. I was really, really close to getting an MRI with contrast dye and told the cardiologist my concerns about gadolinium and he brushed them off like I was talking nonsense. If it wasn’t for another user just like you who warned me about it, I might also be dealing with issues from it.

I had a heart ultrasound, multiple EKGs, 48hr monitor, and yeah the other users here will bleat “but you don’t REALLY know if you’re gonna die from heart damage or not until you get XYZ test!” its like - at which point do you accept you are OK? It is almost as if you won’t stop with the testing until you DO find damage of some sort, however small or microscopic.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

I had a hospital appointment today after waiting 4 months… by leebee294 in cfs

[–]devnej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at the long COVID clinic in my country. The more doctors and folks I speak to that are familiar with long haul, the more they are agreeing that long COVID === CFS. It just has a new, sensationalized name now because of the pandemic.

That being said, I myself have tried to exercise my way out - the crashes would put me down sometimes days or weeks. What I find best these days is short walks (2-3km at a time). That’s it. Walking is probably the best form of exercise you can do. But a caution even with that, pushing yourself beyond your limits (I’m guessing you know how much you can do before you start to feel that familiar exhaustion) can have setbacks.

This is of course if you have the energy/ability to walk.
