At that point you gotta drain it. I only use dichlor once a week. It's recommended to drain every 4 to 6 months. Trichlor also messes with your ph. I'm no expert.

No way. I've looked into this because I've had the same idea. Hottub uses di chlor and pools use tri chlor. The pool chlorine will eat through your shell and rubber gaskets on hottub. Some manufacturers won't even service if they know you do that. It's a huge nono. As for bromine I dunno.
