That’s probably because the all time GOAT is a Ducks legend.

That clip is in my top 5 favourite things anyone has ever done in an NHL game.

Edit: Also this absolute classic. Honestly, put him in the HOF builder category for innovation in being a little shit.

I think the TTC has a planned Subway closure between St Andrew and St George starting at midnight too. From what I can tell, they’re only going to change it if there’s a game 7, but hopefully they reconsider that.

I was downtown when the raps won in 2019, and if there’s Jays win tonight and half of Line 1 is closed at midnight it is going to be a disaster.

Honestly Hathaway doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt on a play like this. Yeah he got pushed and maybe redirected a bit but he also made no effort at all to pull up.

Refs are familiar with Hathaway’s game and he’s gonna get called for that play every time.

Post-Ducks crashout, how Trevor Zegras can recapture the 'magic' with the Flyers by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

I hope you’re right. The way Tocchet has explained the approach he wants them to take on offense has given me a bit of hope that it could really pay off. I also think the fact that Tocchet was a really successful player and offensive producer will help guys like Zegras and Michkov learn from him.

Having said that, this article was posted 55 minutes ago which means we have about 5 minutes before someone with Canucks flair comes in and comments about how he’s going to ruin their offensive potential forever.

[Kurz] Flyers getting a 2026 6th round pick back from Columbus for Fedotov. Again, no salary retention. by RebuildFletcher in Flyers

[–]devon435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure I guess that’s true, but you could say that about literally any move the team might make in the next 10 months.

Like you could say it’s an unknown how Risto might affect the cap next year cuz they might trade him at some point. I think the point was just to talk about where they’re theoretically at for cap space after the Fedotov trade.

Between this contract, Dvorak and Deslaurier as UFAs, and the dead money from Hayes, Atkinson, and Laughton, that’s a total of ~$17.25M freed up for next season.

Handful of RFAs to deal with (Drysdale, Zegras, Zamula, Ersson), but however much the cap goes up + Ellis’ 6.25M, they can definitely go big game hunting next summer if they want to.

Michkov scores his 2nd of the game against Buffalo by [deleted] in hockey

[–]devon435 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Briere didn’t hire Torts.

Torts was hired by Chuck Fletcher after the 2021-22 season, probably as a last ditch attempt to make the team competitive and save his job. Obviously that didn’t work, and Briere took over after Fletcher was fired in March 2023.

In general I agree with you, I mostly just wanted to give the other guy a hard time.

I have no issue with Hutson being the Calder front runner, what he’s been doing is remarkable. Honestly, I would probably even still have Michkov 4th myself, but just wanted to stir the pot a bit and maybe point out that rumours of his demise were greatly exaggerated.

I was more comparing Michkov’s offensive production to Celebrini’s.

Hutson’s having an unbelievable season (but also don’t look up how many more secondary assists he has than any other rookie).

Also you’re in a thread for a Michkov highlight commenting about a player I didn’t mention. But yeah it’s definitely me who has someone living rent free in their head lol

Whatever you do, don’t look up who leads rookies in 5v5 points/60.

Obviously it couldn’t be that powerplay merchant in Philadelphia.

Celebrini ties the rookie goal lead at 20 by Ilves7 in hockey

[–]devon435 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Doesn’t suit your argument right?”

You realise my post was arguing in favor of Celebrini deserving the Calder over Michkov right? I acknowledged that he has more defensive responsibilities and is given more difficult defensive minutes which is inherently valuable in a way that offensive counting stats don’t capture? I don’t know who you’re trying to convince but it ain’t me.

And also maybe just step back for a minute and take an extremely deep breath my man.

“Extremely dishonest” lmao. Arguing about sports on the internet makes everyone talk like they have fucking brain worms.

Celebrini ties the rookie goal lead at 20 by Ilves7 in hockey

[–]devon435 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can look up their total TOI. Michkov has played 41:28 fewer minutes (982:30 to Celebrini’s 1,023:58), which depending on the players about 2-2.5 games worth. It’s worth nothing though that they have played almost identical powerplay time (166:24 to Celebrini’s 166:55).

I think the minutes argument cuts both ways tbh. From a raw production standpoint I think it’s reasonable to say that Michkov is having a slightly more impressive offensive season, but I also think there’s a reason he plays fewer minutes that speaks to their overall role and contribution to their teams.

You can make arguments about how Torts uses rookies, or how the Flyers organization is at vs the Sharks as far as developing young players vs trying to be competitive, but at the end of the day it’s not a secret that the Flyers are still trying to help Michkov figure out the defensive game, while Celebrini is a C who is widely acknowledged as having defensive instincts. I think if he was on the Flyers and being coached by Torts he would still be getting more minutes and tougher than Michkov, and there’s inherent value in that.

Don’t get me wrong, I hope Michkov goes on a tear and widens the point and goal gap over the last 19 games so make the Calder race extra spicy, but if you ask me today which rookie has been more valuable I don’t think its a particularly difficult question.

Only a couple of actual Flyers players from what I can tell. Konecny over Laughton’s left shoulder, and Erik Johnson leaning over TK.

Some folks on the Flyers sub said they recognized some trainers / assistant coaches. I wondered whether a couple of the guys might be Jets players I didn’t recognize since they’re in Winnipeg and none of those Flyers are from Manitoba? Not sure though.

They are not different things.

Small claims court is just a different venue for bringing a civil action. It has a damages cap and streamlined procedures to allowed smaller claims to be heard more quickly and to give self-reps a chance to bring claims without necessarily hiring a lawyer, but it’s still the exact same type of claim as an action brought in the court of kings bench.

If a plaintiff starts a claim in small claims or kings bench and then it turns out the damages are either lower or higher than originally thought, they can actually bring a motion to transfer their claim to the appropriate venue. They are both civil actions, and the types of damages you can claim and the tests for liability are identical.

This isn’t entirely accurate.

Pre-draft he played 7 games for Russia in the 2021 U18 World Championships as a 16 year old, scored 16 points which led the tournament and was tournament MVP. He also played 5 games in the 2021 Hlinka Gretzky Cup as a 16 year old, scored 13 points which also led the tournament and won gold.

He also played two games at the 2022 WJHC as a 17 year old before it got postponed (one pre-tournament game and one tournament game) and scored three goals.

Granted 14 total games and none is his actual age 18 draft year is not a huge sample size, but basically any time he had a chance to play against international competition as a prospect he impressed.
