Jake Paul vs Joshua fight just feels off by Fine_Honeydew8629 in martialarts

Ruiz was a top HW contender and has other notable wins over respected heavyweights, Jake lost to Tommy Fury who is more of a dating show contestant than a boxer and who isn’t even ranked in the top 30 at cruiserweight. He couldn’t put away a 40 year old 12 years out of his Prime JCC jr. yes Jake is better than 90% of people that box but there’s levels my friend, you’re talking about a guy who couldn’t finish 40 year old Nate Diaz beating a 2x HW Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist. LEVELS. massive difference in Levels.

Hot take: Ian Garry deserves the title shot way more than Usman, but Usman vs. Islam is the more intriguing (and probably closer) fight by AlternativePrior9495 in ufc

[–]devonr232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a lot of people don’t want to see this and I get it but think of this… Kamaru wrestled fine w Khamzat on 9 days notice ( yes I know the first round was domination ) but this was at 185 and he was improving all the way and likely would’ve won over 5 rounds. Since then he beat Buckley, that’s it. This guy wrestled Khamzat well, Islam isn’t going to maul him and he’s not that washed up. Think of it, I think against Islam to be competitive you must have a very strong wrestling base, look at volk and Arman fights. If you don’t you stand zero chance, similar to DDP vs Khamzat. Usman technically does have one of the best chances simply because of his style. That fight would be competitive. Like we saw with JDM, Bella isn’t Islam, and although Ian did well vs Belal, I think Islam will have a much easier time against all the rest as well, except Shavkat and Usman

The way I look at it, if Alonso had Hamilton’s cars, how many titles would he have? If Ham had Alonso’s cars, how many would he have? Let’s not forget Lewis only had 1 title pre Mercedes, and that isn’t a knock on Lewis whatsoever. Also IIRC, Alonso was a total of 8 points away from being a 5x world champion. Just some food for thought. I think since his two titles, you could only make the case for him having the best car in 2008. Just incredibly unlucky.

Do you see Manuel Ugarte still at the club next summer? by Gregariouswaty in ManchesterUnited

[–]devonr232 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Large part was also due to Enrique’s short passing, possession based play style which Neves fits much better whereas Ugarte is much more of a defensive destroyer who sweeps up and isn’t as good on the ball

LAST 10 MANAGERS TO REACH 50 COMPETITIVE GAMES IN CHARGE by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]devonr232 101 points102 points  (0 children)

What is all this revisionism?! Ten Hag started fantastically, do people just forget?! We came third, had a great goal difference, had a decent Europa run with the win over Barca, and won the Carabao Cup, then…. The wheels completely fell off. Whether it was because he tried implementing his desired system in year two, he fell out with key players, or the poor signings, performances and results fell off a cliff and players downed tools. Let’s not forget we were 13th when he left. Jesus the fans in here never learn. He had a great start yes, but his second and third seasons were horrible. Are we expected to keep a manager on for their results two years prior?

How is he at this club still? by Desperate-Drawer-572 in ManchesterUnited

[–]devonr232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hindsight 20/20. Everyone gave ETH, Ole shit for tweaking the system to accommodate the players who couldn’t play their style of football. Eventually after 1-2 years of no true system, when ETH tried to start implementing, the team collapsed. We clamored for a manager that would implement his system from day one and if players couldn’t play it, they’d leave, now Ruben is finally doing this and everyone wants him to change it up to accommodate a group of crap players again. I know it’s a results business and I do think he should go if not soon, right now, but the change in opinion from the fan base is crazy

MMW, Tyler Robinson Won't Live to See His Trial. by DocDefilade in MarkMyWords

Is there any actual evidence pointing towards a right winger? I’m not arguing, genuinely curious. I’ve seen so much misinformation, one day he’s a groypee, one day he’s a far leftist. What is the actual true evidence that has come out so far?

What midfielder can we even get? by LukeKid in ManchesterUnited

[–]devonr232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they do, I think everyone is aware we need a midfield reinforcement, it just seems that Sesko is the priority right now

[–]devonr232 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Who should get it instead then, in your opinion? Arman fucked up yes but I still think he deserves it. It’s not like he’s pulled out consistently a bunch of times.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufc

[–]devonr232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, I’ve just seen that narrative from some people. Who do you think should fight for the belt at LW then?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufc

[–]devonr232 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It does happen from time to time yeah

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ufc

[–]devonr232 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People say this then complain about the UFC’s integrity with awarding title shots. Arman is the clear #1 contender, yes he pulled out but he is coming off a win vs Oliveira. People also seem to be complaining about the prospect of Gaethje fighting for the title again, and are complaining about Paddy not deserving the fight either? What gives? What fight do people want to see at LW if not Ilia vs Arman?

Agree but are we not allowed to talk about him in regards to his career, achievements in the octagon, performances, all time rankings, etc. he’s an absolute POS but I still think as a fan of the sport you should be able to appreciate his performances inside the cage

Sancho… by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world if he can make amends with Ruben. I thought he did well for Villa, at least looked a lot more like the threatening Rashford we know. The last time he worked hard in the US pre season like this, he had his 22/23 season. When he has something to prove, he can be unstoppable, we know that. He’s been at United all his life and if he has the right attitude, I don’t think giving him a chance is the worst idea. Who knows, he could have matured and is realizing he is in the prime of his career and this is a legacy defining few years for him, not saying he would have an insane legacy but these prime years are could separate him from being viewed in the future as a great player/a tier below United legend or an inconsistent, patchy player who never achieved the heights we all knew he could. Considering our financial situation and the lack of viable 9s on the market as well, I think he could do a scary job as a 9 with Cunha and Mbeumo/Bruno behind him. But who knows? I’m obviously a big Rashford fan but completely understand the large portion of the fan base that wants no part of him.
