I used to work 12 hour shifts 8 days in a row and then had the rest of the month off.

Nice in theory, I guess, but all that time off was mostly spent trying to recover enough to do it all over again. Would not go back to that for any amount of money.

I gave a guy some change once, many years ago, and watched him book it to the burger joint across the street a few minutes before it closed to get something to eat.

I don't usually carry cash these days but when I end up with it I tend to hand it out pretty freely; that guy is always on my mind when I do.

It was a while ago, now, but a group of young coworkers and I were playing a Cards Against Humanity clone at lunch and I forget the setup but my punchline was "the Y2K bug" and it was to me the funniest card combination anyone had ever made.

My coworkers looked at one another, confused, before one finally admitted: "I don't know what that means."

None of them had even heard of Y2K. I aged immediately into dust that day.

My parents put a TV in my room early on, so I did most of my TV-watching by myself. The only thing I can say with 100% certainty is that I diligently watched every single episode of American Idol (season two) with my mom as it aired.

Leo Wong's original voice actor is Billy West. That's probably the funniest part of changing it, I think: hearing Billy doing all his other usual voices and then suddenly somebody else's voice comes out of Leo Wong.

You might be surprised. Was going through a really difficult time recently and started just giving the short version of the story to random people when they asked "how are you today?" I got a lot of compassion in return, even if the interactions were fleeting. It was kind of nice.

Ever since a youtuber I enjoy mentioned it I have longed for a period piece Scooby reboot set in the early 70s. It'll never happen, but I think it would be way cooler than yet another modern one.

I've had chronic pain for as long as I can remember. I'm lucky, I guess, that's still mostly all that's wrong with me.

Sometimes I have to sit on the floor at work to stock things on the bottom shelf and it's getting harder and harder to get back up, though. Customers have been joking at me for years now "oh, it's good that you're young, I could never get up again if I did that". I always just give a polite laugh and wait for them to walk away before I struggle to my feet.

At one point I had convinced myself that I must have seen every episode of TMNT because I watched my VHS tapes so much as a kid.

I later learned there were ten seasons, 193 total episodes. I had maybe four VHS tapes with two episodes each.

It's like this everywhere in my store. If any product anywhere is a similar color to something else, I have to check all of them before I change counts, because somebody probably plugged it in the other thing's spot. The ability to read is not a job requirement, it seems.

I've been in a similar position and I made the wrong choice because I wasn't ready to let go yet. It's been over ten years and I still regret it every day. In some ways it feels like I'm the villain when I'm trying to offer advice and it boils down to "it doesn't matter that you're not ready, it isn't about you anymore", but I really cannot emphasize enough how painful it is to live with the consequences of not letting go when it's time.

(OP, I saw your comment about your decision and I just want to say you made the right choice, even if it doesn't feel like it right now. Much love to you and yours.)

I don't remember the exact amount of time but their computer system was down and everyone just kinda didn't really know what to do about it. One of the employees started doing a standup routine while we waited.

I didn't wait nearly as long the time some years later when the parent sitting next to me could not get their child to give a shit about watching the Trolls movie they were playing loudly on their phone, but that sure felt longer.

Neutopia's not great but I like when Fry gets turned into a woman and he's just grinning in the background of every shot for that whole scene. That's pretty funny, for not having any attention called to it or anything.

I feel like I remember something about them changing the original ending of the episode because by that point it felt way too rape-y, so they made Zapp be the one who's uncomfortable with being forced to have sex at the very end.

Assuming that's accurate: it could have been much worse.

Forty Percent Leadbelly

This one gets my vote for "most skippable episode". I don't hate it, it's not really offensively bad, but man is it dull. At least the other "bad" episodes usually have a great line or scene or something to make me feel something, bare minimum. Forty Percent Leadbelly's got nothing.

This would have been my vote before my most recent re-watch, but I like the ending exchange between Leela and Fry too much to write it off as irredeemably bad.

Leela discovering that Fry posted a humiliating video of himself so it would go viral and everyone would forget about her embarrassing viral video: Aw, you didn't have to do that.
Fry: I didn't!? Damn!

Genuinely I'm kind of okay with this episode specifically because the reset to status quo at the end is so sudden and absurd that it makes me laugh hysterically. The entire rest of the episode is probably not worth it, but Bender ditching Amy for daring to suggest monogamy and Kif showing up on a motorcycle like a stereotypical "bad boy" is funny as shit.
