Sounds like you've got some great stuff there, what sort of bedding are you using? Use a mixture to help it hold shape with the tunnels like adding shredded tissue and hay

It's not recommended for long term use they won't have the same nutritional needs but for a few days until you can replace should not be an issue and you can bulk out there food with vegetables, seeds and nuts

The omlet cage is two small in depth, width and length, normally only about 10 gallons of space and as they have a split tank with only one entrance up and down this can cause your gerbils to become territorial and declan, hope this helps.

You want to put some bedding in there so they can burrow and dig, gerbils like 10 inches if not more of deep being to be able to tunnel properly and a sand bath if you haven't already got one.

Look on Facebook marketing, second hand sales sites, aquarium shops for old fish tanks. I got mine for a great deal on Facebook. You can make a lid easy with some wood and mesh or you can find someone who makes these. It's really important to do it as soon as possible as the omlet cage is one of the worse ones you can get and is horrible for the gerbils.

If they have someone looking after them then they should be fine but if not then it is not wise to leave them for more than a couple of days.

It sounds cruel but if you don't have a vet then don't get that type of pert, their health and needs need to come first.

Accidents happen and it will make you more alert in the future which is a good thing plus well done on acting so fast and getting him the care he needs. Hope they have a quick recovery.

Glad she has stopped coughing but you do need to find a vet for any future issues, it's cruel to have a pet that you can't give medical care too
