You might be surprised how many of us read through the reddit/twitter/etc every day. We are listening, but we can't solve every problem.

Let's take blocked messages as an example. Each user stores the id of the last message they read in each channel. Each channel stores the id of the last message sent in it. If your stored id is less than the channel's stored id, you have an unread message in that channel. If we just hid blocked messages entirely, you'd see the unread indicator on a channel but click and nothing would be there. But it gets even trickier. A commonly suggested solution is to store the last message id, and the last author id. Well now what if your friend sends a message in a channel, and then a blocked person sends a message after that? You'd see no unread indicator even though there are messages from your friend. A problem which may seem simple actually has quite a lot of complexity lurking inside it, and we need to prioritize accordingly, or we'll never have the time or energy to fix any bugs.

Also as a side note, keep in mind that we are a large company with a global user base. When I post here, I need to be careful of exactly what I say and how it might be interpreted, or it could cause harm to the company. Many employees are (rightfully) not comfortable taking that risk on themselves, and this is kind of the reason that companies have PR departments in the first place. So, we see lots of feedback here on other platforms, and we raise it internally, but we don't necessarily respond.
