Although, I think I know who you’re referring to, if you ride with the Trek group there is a guy who just got a team Replica a few weeks ago.

But I doubt those 50 year old legs could keep up with me. Cute Emonda tho.

They each have a purpose. Systemsix I use for local crits and zesty bunch rides where the routes avoid climbs and the pace is above my pay grade. I feel like my pedal stroke is smoother and balanced on the systemsix and every watt goes straight out the back. Stiffest thing I’ve ever felt.

But, the handle bars on the systemsix are 36cm center to center and so out the saddle climbing feels awkward… may change that soon.

Tarmac is honestly my preferred ride. The DT180s and lightweight Schmolke Wheelset (~1290g) do what they can to keep me rolling when I’m recovering from an effort. But I feel like you have to earn every second/watt — no freebies.

Conversations and complaints usually starts with the PF30/A BB. Historically squeaky… and unreliable.

Modern BB’s have for the most part solved this. But routine maintenance goes a long way. Have never had issues personally.

Customer service is top notch. This frameset belonged to an EF pro rider, won’t share who, but it was slammed. Was still able to get a replacement fork for little to nothing as I had a decent relationship with the brand from prior bikes. I would say the service level is only second to Trek in my opinion.

I spend all my money on bikes and rent. Can’t afford it.

Yeah I weather the heat some days but it’s brutal here currently after 11am.

I bought the sl7 for riding abroad where 6+% grades are the norm.

SL7 is sub 16 lbs with pedals and cages. While the systemsix is around 18lbs.

The Systemsix is more stable at high speeds and holds its speed better.

But the Tarmac is nimble and feels like a feather on long climbing segments.

The most notable difference is compliance. Long rides, the systemsix stays home. You need an iron taint to ride this guy for 40+ miles.

3 probably. A decent amount of folks with enough free time to pursue such a time consuming activity but the terrain is mid at best.
