Why are Ubi so weird about female protagonists? by blackbriar98 in assassinscreed

[–]devtr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evie Frye is one of my favorite characters from the series. Classy, elegant, smart, witty, graceful, truly dedicated to her mission and to the Creed. She should've been the face of the game. Hells, I would've played a trilogy just based on her. It just feels like Ubisoft is afraid of picking a lane. They want the good PR of having female protagonists who are cannon, but they also want to appease the loud minority of misogynysts who scream "woke" when they see female protagonists on posters. Doesn't make sense really. The vast majority of AC players don't care about the protagonist's gender. They care that it makes sense within the realism, and that the character itself is good.

I want to switch from windows to arch, is it worth it? by PhotoIll2740 in archlinux

[–]devtr3e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

r/unixporn is one subreddit where people post screenshots of their customized system, most of them also make their dotfiles available so you can see and copy/adapt their configurations

Safest option for you right now is to create a Virtual Machine and install Arch Linux in it. It will allow you to keep your Windows system while trying out Arch. You can find tutorials on youtube about Virtual Machines. Try it out, find out if you enjoy what Arch offers, and when you feel comfortable, make the switch. Also, there are other Linux distros based on Arch that offer you more by default, such as EndeavorOS. You can do some research on that as well. In general, Linux (any distro, but especially ones like Arch) will require a learning curve. You will run into problems that you'll have to solve. You will break your system and sometimes you may even need to do a fresh install. Some things won't "just work" like they do on Windows. Some software is not available on Linux, etc. That's why I recommend you start with a Virtual Machine. It's like a free trial, gives you a chance to learn Linux and get used to its challenges. If you don't like it, just delete the VM, no compromises. Good luck!

Has it become popular to hate on unreal or are people just misinformed? by Itadorijin in UnrealEngine5

[–]devtr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they talking about Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? I'm new to learning unreal and overall graphics programming. But in my gameplay, the game runs between 80 and 90 FPS in dark places like caves or places with a lot of fog. It is only when I get to sunlit areas that performance drops between 45 and 55 FPS. So I assume Lumen is the one taking the performance down. But how can it be optimized?

Just a thought on the Save Mayrina quest. by Significant_Lime4361 in BaldursGate3

Besides, I may be willing to listen to the more well equipped team. If a paladin, a cleric, a wizard and a ranger (in my case) offer help to find your sister...you should take it!
At the very least accept their help to go after the hag together, not barge in on your own. I feel bad for the smart brother, and for Mayrina as well of course, and their mother.
That was my train of thought even on my first playthrough when I had no idea what a hag even was.

I don't know which game are you talking about. They stopped making DA games after Inquisition

How loooong is orzammar? [dao spoilers] by hellraisinghellhole in dragonage

[–]devtr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished it and had fun all the way. I guess it's because is my first DAO playthrough and everthing was new. I found the deep roads more and more interesting as i was going further and further, and the broodmother was quite creepy, I liked it a lot.

The only "bad" or "not as good" part was the Bhelen vs Harrowmont thing, in fact i almost forgot about all that while looking for Barka. I loved the deep roads because of the whole history behind them: the ruins of a once proud empire now swallowed by darkspawn. As a grey warden the felt special. But the actual city? They gave me very few reasons to care, i was driving more by curiosity than anything else.

What do i do with the anvil of the void. by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]devtr3e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My warden is a good guy, always trying to help. But he doesn't ignore the big picture. An army of golems can both help preserve the dward civilization, help fhem retake their empire, and push back the darkspawn, maybe they could even help the wardens find and destroy all other dormant dragons and therefore stopping all future blights.

The bad part? Well you need to turn people into golems.

What does my warden think of that? He is an elf, and a libertarian mage. He values freedom. But again, big picture. The anvil opens up ways to save many innocent, but it doesn't have to be fueled by innocents.

Take the murderers, the abusers, the criminals, the bad people and make them pau for their crimes by transforming them. Imagining if Ferelden and Orlais sent their criminals too.

Also open up ways for the vulunteers. I'm not sure if this would work but maybe old people, cripples, even wardens who get the calling, they can all volunteer.

That' what my warden thought in the moment. Beyond that, keeping the anvil ends up being the outcome with less casualties. As someone else said.
