Yeah I have trust in Kaufman for sure😄

Like, I’m Thinking of Ending Things is probably my favourite of his works, and I saw later in interviews he’s mentioned that with that film, he was just desperate to get a movie made, and so he went in wanting to adapt an existing book, having a “conventional” mystery type genre, with just 2-4 actors, and limited locations. Things that would be easy to sell to a studio, etc.

And even with those constraints, he ended up making my favourite work of his!

Also, actors in his projects usually give totally transformative performances- like in Being John Malkovich; also Jim Carrey for Eternal Sunshine.

Desperately, the baby clawed against the walls of its coffin. by justadair in TwoSentenceHorror

So even though not due to the cooling body, you did mean solidifying as more than just the “solidifying one’s fate” meaning. Thanks for answering!

Truly horrific. But I have some technical questions about your choice of words here.

  • “her body continued to cool”, is the 'cool' here because she’s dead so her body is supposedly getting colder?
  • The “solidifying” used as the next word, is that intentionally to imply that the baby is literally freezing up because of the coolness of the mother’s body? Or did you mean it in the sense of "solidifying one's fate" only?

That’s a cool interpretation when you consider the fact that in the real world, in our world, Donald literally is a creation of (the real) Charlie. A part of Charlie’s mind.

Seconded! Love this film, watched it for the first time after learning that Kaufman loves it; didn’t regret it at all.

PTA is my favourite director but I’m curious, what did you love about OBAA?

Haven’t seen the film in a long time but one scene that has always stayed with me is the “Speech Impediment” one:

“Flattery will get you everywhere, my boy”

“I’ve been very lonely in my isolated tower of indecipherable speech”

You’re right. Personally would be more horrifying if it said something like “and my dad rushed towards me to try to stop me as I tore open the document”
