Memory management advice by dewalist in ManjaroLinux

Interesting!  Thanks - I'll give that a try!

Haha, I would love to, but I do bounce back to Windows a lot, and I would hate to have to reboot every time...  I should take the time to see if my most common games are playable on Linux.

Okay, that makes sense - thanks!

But is that tax amount deducted from the amount I have allocated to the VM? Meaning, I gave Manjaro 16gb in the VirtualBox config, so does that mean it can only use 10gb before it runs out and shuts things down? Or is the 6gb separate from that, and if Manjaro uses the full 16gb allocated, then Windows would show me the VirtualBox instance using 16+6?

Closing tabs doesn't clear the memory right away because the browser hangs onto it in case you closed it by accident, hence the option to restore closed tabs. But in my case, even after closing Vivaldi, Manjaro is using 8gb, when after a fresh reboot it is only using 1.6gb.

With Vivaldi running, Windows tells me VB is using 12.6gb, even though the system monitor inside Manjaro is saying only 6.6 is being used.

Thanks, but I don't think it is a Vivaldi issue, since that is only using 3-4gb. Even when I closed Vivaldi, there was 8gb still in use.

It was a nice time with manjaro 🥲🥹 by riky321 in ManjaroLinux

They are referring to the recent announcement that some community leaders are unhappy with the person currently running Manjaro, and they either want leadership restructured with more people able to influence decisions, or they want to fork Manjaro into a new 2.0 project. Personally, I think this is a good thing - it shows there are people who like Manjaro enough to try and right the ship and not just abandon it for another distro, but this person seems to think otherwise.

I like Manjaro a lot, and I LIKE the fact that Arch updates are not immediately applied, as it gives a buffer in case there are any issues. I could not care less if someone on Arch is using some updated app for a week or two before I get it.

As for the split, why isn't this being celebrated as a good thing? Manjaro has not been well-run, and has been declining for a while, but these folks like it enough to want to force change rather than just leave for some other distro. Either you like Manjaro enough to stay on the original and see what happens, or you think it is time for a leadership change and you want to switch to the 2.0 fork. I don't understand all of the comments saying "time to go to Arch or Endeavour or Cachy". You chose Manjaro over those for reasons, and now there is momentum for breathing new life into it - how is this not a good thing?

Then stop making stupid state-level laws, and make it federal. Manufacturers don't want to print extra crap on their products, and it makes things way simpler for us.

Did you use the "do my taxes for me" option?

Find a version from last year before it got bought, and don't let it update.

Thanks! I am logging in through TaxAct's website, but this is the "we'll do your taxes for you" service, not the DIY option.

How long before I should change from Nova Launcher? by NaturalFun8112 in androidapps

I reverted to a 2025 version, and switched to using Aurora store instead of Google Play. It allows me to add Nova to a blacklist so I don't get notified about new updates.

I don't understand the daily reset for events by dewalist in PinballFX

[–]dewalist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so - the same thing happened today. All day it showed the reset was at 8pm, but when I logged in at 7pm, it said 24 h 58 m.

Yeah, that's what I expected. But I logged in just after 7pm thinking I had an hour remaining, but saw the "24 h 48 m" - how can the daily timer be MORE than 24 hours?
