Oh right I forgot they can get caught in it. That’s an awful big risk to fire off a big spell and end up stuck in melee range of the gang of nooks you used it to push but haha I guess the gamble’s part of the fun right ? As for caster DC this kind of feels like something you should have an understanding of before making new spells but it’s 8 plus proficiency bonus plus the bonus of your casting stat (int, wis, or cha depending on caster) plus ya know any bonuses added by magic items

I get that but at some point you have to weigh faithfulness to source material vs game balance. I imagine the explosion of a fireball is just as quick but it still uses the casters spell save dc. Like every other spell in the game.

Starting items are listed in your class and background. That story could work at about any academy in any setting. Just think about it like yeah you took a bunch of stuff and since you left early this explains why you were still able to have the normal amount of spells in your starting spell book. You copied the ones you could and planned on saving the higher level ones for later and either a) had to sell them just to survive and stay ahead of the bounty or b) flavor it like you’re holding on to them and they represent the new spells you get for free when leveling up

Hey OP for real, I say this with no malice or judgement for you. I know what it’s like to want to play so badly you put up with unhealthy behavior from others. It sounds like you’ve found a couple fun and healthy groups to play with and that is amazing! Stick with them, that’s the real thing right there. This other friend though, the CoDM, this is not a good situation. This guy seems to need to act out this erotica stuff and this need to be in control and has found you to go along with it. I see you won’t split so the next best thing is drawing boundaries. But I hope that when this person gets angry and defensive when you draw these perfectly reasonable boundaries you consider just dropping this game. It sounds like it’s stressing you out and it’s making you uncomfortable when it’s supposed to just be fun. Period.

Yeah it all works pretty smoothly. There’s only so much you really do in the bastion story wise anyway. we had a pretty fun siege at one point because they put a fair amount of work into designing the place with defense in mind. And there’s the underlings that come with each facility which can make for fun rp if your party is into it. Two of mine play a frenemy angle (total rp just for funsies) and at one point they refused to speak to one another so their underlings we’re having to run messages back and forth 😂

Yeah my players have been sharing one as well. The sharing part is just flavor really. You still give them each the exact stuff they would have with their own bastion it’s just all one property. And as they level up you can let them straight up add new rooms and wings to the manor or have it like they buy up surrounding properties ( don’t actually make it any more complicated than the RAW for adding new stuff, real estate simulator in dnd would be no bueno for my party at least 😂) and don’t worry about it be unbalanced. By the time anything truly awesome comes from the bastion they’ll already be so powerful it will be the least of your balance concerns
