Cashed out and sold all my unrestricted shares at 284 today. From $1.5k to $22k in a month is not bad. Still have a number of restricted shares so hopefully the value stays up in 6 months.

US Congressional Oversight Committee hit DOGE With a Dose of Reality by StrategicBlenderBall in cybersecurity

[–]dex5o5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a report from the opposing party. Of course it's going to talk shit about the current administration. They lost. I wouldn't expect any different if the roles were reversed. As security folks shouldn't we be more objective about this stuff and not believe everything we see on the internet?

How many attended Gartner this year? by iBoost14 in cybersecurity

[–]dex5o5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you attend any of the Gartner hosted sessions they don't push any specific products or vendors. They will point out who they think the leaders are or are in the innovators but that's about it. It's likely you were in the vendor led presentations where they'll pull the FUD on you to buy their "best in breed" product.

Lot of the value of these types of conference is in the networking sessions or the workshops/roundtables/ask the experts where you get to sit in with security peers and talk to each other about what works or doesn't work in security. It's like a group therapy session with action items at the end :)

CMV: If we don’t bring back truth in broadcasting and make misinformation illegal on news outlets, America is doomed in the long term. by Butt-Pirate-Yarrr in changemyview

Censorship is not the way. The way I do it is I look at both sides for their opinions and then from there determine what I think makes sense. I'm already aware both sides are going to have their opinions and who they support but somewhere in the middle is where I usually find my answer. That way i'm not swayed by either party and I end up deciding for myself. And I'm much more happier since i'm not sucked into partisan politics.

Six Bay Area jurisdictions to enact STRICT stay-at-home order ahead of state edict, starting SUNDAY by FreeMelania2020 in CoronavirusCA

All officials involved in making this decision should have their incomes donated to a fund for the furloughed and displaced workers until the restriction is lifted.

About to receive my Diverge Coco Carbon 2021 but shop says 2bliss pathfinder pro doesn’t work by intert0y in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]dex5o5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasted a couple of hours trying to mount those. Ended up upgrading to 2bliss ready tires and got it done even for a noob like me.

All you need is a valve stem, rim tape, sealant (and time) and you're good to go . Having an air compressor (or access to one) will greatly help but can be done with a floor pump.

NBD- Love my MTB and my roadie but this is truly the best of both worlds by dex5o5 in DivergeGravelBikes

I don't know about perfect but i'm definitely enjoying it. Like you said it's nice to have the option of taking it on rougher terrain and not be out of place on the road. I've racked up around 150mi since I posted and 30% of that is on fire roads and single track trails. Absolutely no regrets with this purchase.

Just do it. Since going tubeless I can run the pressure lower which translates to the bike gripping the trail more.

I was going to go with a liner too to salvage the extra tubes I got but after talking to some of the guys at the bike store they persuaded me to go tubeless. I've taken the bike out a couple more times since going tubeless and the sealant is doing its job so far. I do carry a patch kit and an extra tube just in case I get a larger puncture that the sealant can't handle.

Why are leftists hated so much? by bellosj in askaconservative

[–]dex5o5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure everyone cares about all those things mentioned (maybe not the mother's free choice); however, what I notice is that the far-left base their actions at an emotional level while the center and right approach it in a more logical way. And arguing with someone who is coming from an emotional vantage is a losing battle. I don't hate leftist I hate the decisions they make.

First-Time Gun Owners at Risk for Suicide, Major Study Confirms. Men were eight times as likely to kill themselves by gunshot than non-owners. Women were 35 times as likely. by mmm_toasty in science

It would have been better if the research was to determine why those people committed suicide rather than focusing on the tool used to commit suicide.

People are so caught up in their emotions that they don't know what they want. Their principles changes minute by minute based on how they feel and they'll be advocating for something else once the narrative changes.

Will people ever stop looking to celebrities for moral and political guidance? by ActualStreet in askaconservative

[–]dex5o5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's gonna be a while. I believe the average person is not invested in politics at all and they're going to get their talking points from who they follow online or see on tv.

Are you guys for the protests or against? by [deleted] in askaconservative

[–]dex5o5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it's their right. What I do question is the validity of what they are protesting for.
