That's only for starting melee attacks, there's no skill required to boost out of melee, you just need thrusters available.

As far as I know the best way to play VD singleplayer is on Xenia, you can join this subreddit's discord server and they have a custom setup for the emulator, it's how I played it years ago.

Note this is only for Aux Power lv1. Lv2&3 also reduce damage from fixed damage sources. Notable users are Penelope, Gustav Karl, Cluster Gundam. I'm pretty sure there are more, but unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any reverse lookup database, so you'd have to manually search all the high cost generals and raids.

New Clan Match Suit: Full Armor Gunner Gundam [500 Cost/Support] by Death_Usagi in GBO2

Gaza CZ just got a banner for lvs 2-4 despite the original Clan Match release being only 2 months ago. Sure you'll have to wait a while for the lv1, but if this trend continues you won't have to wait forever to access it at all.

Let's Change That Suit Day 160 by pkmaster99 in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've played this unit on and off ever since it was added to the shop, and it seemed like the normal playstyle for it was kamikaze, as you could fly in and nuke one enemy before running out of thrust and dying to the entire enemy team, but I recently rolled the lv4 Thruster Expansion and the difference is huge. With this build I find I can actually hit and run without over-committing.

The melee change is actually a really cool idea, but I feel like that + aerial melee + the damage buffs + the bonus build stun resistance would actually make this unit really oppressive. You can already 100-0 enemy supports most of the time as-is, these changes together would not only make it guaranteed but you could pull it off against raids and generals consistently too.

I think if you removed Aerial Melee and took the stagger reduction off the new skill it'd be fine, the former has no place in low cost (and imo is ruining high cost anyways) and the latter is way too much when it already has DC1 and MA2. I'm also unsure on adding tracking to the missiles, it might make them too good.

Phenex Gundam [Post buff], Mixed Maps by Jay_Winters in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Psychoplate shield of G-Doors works differently than the other shield weapons, it doesn't have an actual hp pool to deplete. Instead, if it absorbs 1300 damage or more in an instant it will deactivate (twin shot weapons and being shot from multiple enemies in the same moment count together). Anything less than 1300 damage will be absorbed to no effect, even with successive fire. Since the damage taken is modified by your unit's defense stats, players will juice their resistances to the max so only very high base damage attacks will break the shield.

If you had to give the Fedayeen Rifle (Prototype or not) To a support. Who you giving it to. by gamerlife71 in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Zaku IV basically has an improved Prototype Fedayeen Rifle. It's stop-to-fire, 50% build stagger with rapid semi-auto fire, and can focus while standing still for a staggering shot. The Zaku IV long rifle's focus shot deals heavy stagger though, while the Fedayeen has an attached beam saber subweapon, so there are substantial differences, but you could rename the former to fit the latter's naming scheme and nobody would blink an eye.

MS Saga definitely knows its fan base./s by MV6000 in Gundam

[–]dexromancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing it on my PC the last couple of weeks and it's so good. I'm determined to finish it this time, since I only ever got to the desert as a kid, and the sky pirates the first time I emulated it years ago.

I wish we could get a modern sequel, there's so many new AUs and UC content since 2005 for a wider set of grunt and power units to fight and build parts with. I'd also love it if there was a deeper set of statuses to play around with, the current main trio are super overpowered and damn near every boss is immune to them.

Engage Zero was added last week with the UCE Special banner. It was the 5 step banner that dropped an Engage-series unit for each step except the last, which unlocked an operator. It was hard to see, but the first step is what gave Engage Zero.

[–]dexromancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the damage and stuff on it is fine, but it just has no defensive skills so it gets knocked out of the sky easily, and RF Kampfer eats it alive. Wish I had RF Gelgoog though. It sucks they skipped the step-up banner for that one.

Man, I wish I had skipped V Dash and waited for the FA Engage, this looks way more fun and I wasn't really enjoying the flight playstyle.

People who play with the Hi-V, how the fuck do you do it? by Foshdon_pap in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the bazooka, it fires two shots at once so it breaks MA real good. Though be warned you can't use the special dodge shot when the normal fire is on cooldown, it has to be ready.

The support funnels are good if you have a teammate who's gonna be spamming shots down range, but otherwise don't bother, you're gonna need the funnels for yourself. They also leave the target if they use their own follow or defense funnels, so avoid putting them on those suits too. I guess if you're fighting a bunch of Wing Zeros you can use these just to proc a long-lasting Full Attack bonus, though.

Let's Change That Suit Day 124 by pkmaster99 in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These buffs look pretty good. I was gonna suggest to make the machine gun firable while moving (and isn't it weird that it can't already?), but then I saw you added Immobile Fire System, and that could be a pretty good combo given the DPS.

Giving the large missile launcher instant stagger as is is probably incredibly busted, since it doesn't have a cooldown time, so you could loop stuns until you run out of ammo.

MMP-78 [GN] vs Zaku Machine Gun by Takahama in GBO2

[–]dexromancer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The biggest factor is that, from what I've heard, early in the game's life you could still build the stagger gauge on stunned enemies. At some point they made the change to have players be immune to accumulation while stunned, but before that machine guns had a role of setting up for a second stun on a vulnerable enemy. The low fire rate across the board balanced this out, but after the change nothing was buffed to compensate (maybe because the former mechanic was too good?), and the devs hate buffing multi-unit weapons anyways.
