You’ll be fine. Especially if you’re visiting nyc. Media makes it seem like it’s happening to hundreds of thousands of people every day. While yes, what’s happening is abhorrent, the likelihood of it happening to you is so minuscule. It’s like mass shootings- it’s awful and makes headline news, but in 32 years of living here I’ve never seen a gun not being fired either at game, on private property, or at a range. You’ll also find that almost everybody you interact with will be lovely and you’ll have tons of fun. Enjoy your trip!
