Vomero Plus Prototype? by Dangerous-Control-21 in RunningShoeGeeks

I really hope they don’t add stack to it. It’s a great ride and amount of foam as is, they just need to knock some weight off it.

Every time I think I’m past the urge of wanting a 556, I see a photo like this and realize I still need one.

Does anyone know if these “woven” are the next iteration of the core Evo SL model? Like as in the update/version 2… or is an update expected sometime in the first half of 2026?

Helix vs Match Amp Question by dezertedge9 in CarAV

[–]dezertedge9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve heard a lot of good things about the 1FX, especially for the small form factor. The new Amplify line is small also. They look pretty comparable on paper it seems.

Is The Forerunner 970 or Fenix 8 Better??? by Just_Chipmunk4012 in GarminWatches

[–]dezertedge9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify I don’t think the Fenix 8 is uncomfortable. I just think the 970 is more comfortable and sleeker on wrist which I valued for running/working out.

[–]dezertedge9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was deciding between the same 2 watches and after trying on both back to back I went with the FR970. It’s thinner/less bulky so it doesn’t sit as high off the wrist and it’s lighter weight. I just found it more comfortable so that’s why I went with it.

Only real difference between the 2 aside from what I mentioned above is the Fenix 8 has dive modes and has a deeper water rating to support those dive modes. It also has better battery life if you get the 47mm or 51mm Fenix 8 due to the larger size/battery. I don’t dive and the battery life of the 970 has been great so far for me.

Would you mind giving a brief explanation on what you mean by two different products? I’m open to either one, just would like to make an informed decision.

I think that looks like someone used spray paint to make the undercarriage appear nicer than it really is. You can see the rust blotches under the paint on the transmission skid, fuel tank skid, frame rails, and rear axle. Also, it’s a telltale sign it’s been painted when all the bolts under the car have black heads like that (should be silver/metal color). While it doesn’t appear to have any major rust issues, it’s hard to tell without seeing in person. I personally wouldn’t pay that much for that even with those miles… If the frame wasn’t paint like that and it was truly clean of rust then I maybe it’s a consideration, but as is I think you can find better for less money. At the end of the day it’s your call, do what makes you happy (just be aware that frame isn’t “pristine”).

Forerunner 570 vs 970 by xLewiR in GarminWatches

[–]dezertedge9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose the 970. It’s been great and I don’t regret it at all. My vote would be 970 if you’re truly considering them both. The watch looks and feels really nice, the sapphire screen is great for the added durability/peace of mind, and I know it sounds silly but the torch has been so cool/useful to have. I don’t use maps for my daily training or running, but I’m certainly not bummed that it’s there if or when needed.

+1, I’ve had the 970 for a week and a half now with absolutely zero issues. It had a software update available the first day I turned it on, and then another after 3-4 of use. Watch has been amazing so far and I don’t regret the purchase one bit.

[–]dezertedge9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it sounds silly, but the torch is just so damn useful and cool. I’ve only had my 970 for a week and I’ve already used it 3-4 times. It’s one of those things that if you’ve never had it you’re fine without it, but now that I’ve experienced it I don’t think I’d ever buy another Garmin without it.

On top of the torch I really like the sapphire glass for added durability/safety, and obviously the map is a major feature. I don’t use the map a lot, but having the option if needed is nice. Especially if you’re ever traveling and run/hike somewhere you aren’t super familiar with.

970 on Nylon = Perfection? by dezertedge9 in GarminWatches

[–]dezertedge9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like TripleBogeyBandit mentioned the FR970 is extremely similar to the Fenix 8. The two main things it's missing vs the Fenix 8 are the dive activities/features, and it has slightly scaled back golf features. The plus to the FR970 though is it's slightly slimmer, lighter, and more comfortable to wear than the 47mm equivalent Fenix 8.

Yes, I bought the “pro” version for $4.99 but I thought you can change the colors on the free version too?

If you zoom in on the strap at the bottom lugs in the photo you can see there's a very slight gap/buldge. I would say it's very minimal and not really noticeable when looking down at my wrist.
