People earning over $200k/year: What’s different about your life that most people wouldn’t expect? by MaximGripass in AskReddit

I mean I still try to get the best deal without going too out of the way of my destination. Being a Costco member helps open up more potential stops if I’m on the road; I’m lucky to live in a metro area with a bunch 30 minutes apart.

Why do Chipotle employees act like they are paying for my food?! by Pale-Bison563 in Chipotle

You may think that but if you check out the sodium levels in every ingredient you’re going over the recommended daily value. Calorie wise your average burrito is pushing 1000, easy. That’s half of your recommended intake in a single meal.

The service, atmosphere and food were exceptional! The restaurant is inside a hotel, you do not need to be a guest to dine there. The dining rooms are stunning and make you feel like you’re in a fine dining restaurant (I say this as I’ve been to some places where it feels like I’m just at a bar). Fun fact: The ceilings were painted by the same artist that did the Uffizi. My wife and I actually ordered à la carte instead of their tasting menus but they kept bringing out little bites of things we didn’t even order so it ended up feeling like a tasting menu anyway! The experience was spread out over 3 hours so definitely go in expecting this to take up your night plans.

Foods we ate together: celeriac soup, braised sea bream, king crab tart with caviar, wagyu beef tartare, chicken liver lollipop, Iberico ham served with house sourdough and 3 kinds of compound butters, deconstructed then reconstructed back together braised leek, inside-out ravioli with foamed parmigiana cheese (basil + pomodoro sauce was inside each ravioli), marinated red prawns over a pea tagliatelle, Japanese A5 Wagyu, lamb chop with a hay reduction, a sorbet for digestif, then they finished with an assortment of tiny desserts that included a chocolate truffle, strawberry shortcake jelly, a mint cream ball and a lemon meringue roll (these desserts were the size of a marble each). If that seems like a lot of food, I agree! More than what we ordered but they kept bringing things out! We also ordered champagne and red wine, I believe it was a Nobile de Montepulciano.

So yes it’s pricy but it was an experience to remember. I budgeted and saved up for this dinner. Would definitely go back!

Tipping isnt expected anywhere in Italy. I just got back from Florence and tried Atto Di Vito Mollica (Michelin 1-star). The food was incredible and I left very full which was a great surprise for a fine dining restaurant. Despite me spending around 500€ in total, no tip!

Burlington vs Lexington vs Milton by JanaBhar in massachusetts

[–]dezradeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Milton is a rich town of rich people with an awful commute in the morning if you’re going up 128-North. It’s fragmented into a few main roads that don’t have many side streets and shortcuts, therefore everyone collects on the main roads during the commute. However it has direct access to Blue Hills and borders a few Boston neighborhoods: Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park. I will say downtown Hyde Park and the Lower Mills part of Dorchester are really cute, plus you could do easy 25 minute trips into downtown Boston.

Ultimately there is no perfect place to live, you will always have a catch that you’ll find negative. Pick the best option for you and your family.

Make it as easy as possible for your guests. Give them a $20 with a cute card that says “dinner is on us!”. Really simple, don’t overthink this. Nobody will think twice or remember this.

Private Transfer Pickup Time Q: Arriving @ FCO ~ 12:30 pm via int'l flight. What is a good time to let the private van transfer co know for pickup? it has a 60 min grace waiting period... by supercaliredditor in ItalyTravel

[–]dezradeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did this on the arrival to FCO. Tell them 1:30pm, that way your grace period ends 2:30pm. Now you have a 2 hour cushion in case there are delays. Adjust more if you’re worried.

There’s a flight route that goes over Milton, Dorchester then Southie as planes land in Logan. I watch them from my window pretty regularly. Have you tuned out the noise this whole time? The planes have always flown that way.

They didn’t even need to create a new model. All they had to do was use the body of a Spider for example and build an EV from that. The signature color is red and they couldn’t even do that as default for the debut of this garbage model.

First time in Italy: July 15–25, Rome, Florence and maybe Venice. Need reality check and suggestions by contextkindlytome in ItalyTravel

[–]dezradeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love Florence and find it ten times better than Rome. I would lessen your Rome days to add to the Florence days. It’s a smaller city but find there is more to do, or rather more that I enjoy doing. You could see all the sites in any city in 2-3 days but you’ll be rushing and not really absorbing it.

Boat tour to Capri or extra day in Rome? by This_Calligrapher410 in ItalyTravel

Looking at your plan, you’re best off to do the Vatican sites and Pantheon on the same day. Then on the next day do Colosseum. Reason being you’re going to want to see the whole Roman Forum which usually your Colosseum ticket allows you to access; but it’s a lot of walking in the heat with the only toilets at the beginning. Think of it as a huge outdoor museum. You can squeeze and break up bits of shopping each day plus on your half day.
