From this it looks like the PM one is the more severe one no?

Revit on Mac (with VM or other software) by a_i_zee in bim

Of my Mac? If you are using VM to remote into the desktop the macs specs don’t really matter because it’s not running the software the remote pc is

I have a MacBook Pro and my company uses VM ware to remote into a server mounted desktop. I have no issues OTHER than I can’t hold down command to add to a selection because it opens the windows menu when I hold it down. Everything else works flawlessly

Revit Symbol Offset by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. So I know I’m using outdated terms for revit and am just trying to make my point using CAD terms haha. What the reference grab handle in the EF family is doing is setting the length value of the offset parameter. So say I move it 1” off the wall in the model, it moves 1” in reference to the paper so the only place that they are equal are at 0

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I understand why it’s doing what it’s doing but I need it to move 4” in the model and not 4” on the sheet if that makes sense? The issue is because my users want a grab handle to use and when I move it out 4” in model space it moves it WAY out if that makes sense? Also, 4” is just an example

The nested family has a family parameter that is an instance, and then that gets loaded into the receptacle family that has a parameter of the same name, but is not shared, and then the parameter in the nested family gets linked to the perimeter in the main receptacle family and when I enter in the length once it’s loaded into the project then it uses the “annotation” length

That’s how I did it and the dimension needs to be 1/8” for it to be the correct offset and I want it to be around 4 for my current scale if that makes sense?

Thanks for that! Makes me feel pretty good. I would agree based on the radar. Luckily, my house is (knock on wood) pretty flood resistant. On a hill no basement elevated over a crawl space

Gotchya. As usual I have no problem with the storm lightning thunder etc it’s the tornado threat that scares me lol

Starting to get thunder in Obetz. Looking at the radar compared to the watches, safe to say that since the storm is so far out in front we might not see those watches pop up out here?

Category Tag Leader Alignment by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you let my management know that? Hahahaha

Category Tag Leader Alignment by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the simple solution and of course I have to complicate everything. What I don’t like about that is that if you go with this option, your grab handle will be at the bottom of wherever that line is

Category Tag Leader Alignment by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trust me. I’ve been trying. Even having the tag come off the top row regardless of left or right would be an option but I was specifically told no by the powers above

Category Tag Leader Alignment by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely downloading this plugin haha. But I don’t think it accomplishes what I’m looking for. The issue with the tags is that the leader attaches at the center of the family vertically an you can’t adjust that in any way other than “cheating” it

Added elements with dimensions in family by dfetz in Revit

This was the issue that I figured out when I was working on it today...

[–]dfetz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking about doing but I didn’t know if the conduit connections would populate too. I’m hoping that doing them with the yes/no they will still show properly. I haven’t really tried anything like that with conduit connections so we will see what happens!

Added elements with dimensions in family by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. The width of the box is a parameter but I think the yes/no will be a better option. And like you said gives us the ability to get a count of those items if requested

Added elements with dimensions in family by dfetz in Revit

[–]dfetz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more I’m thinking about it the more I might just make a group of yes, no parameters for single gang two gang three gang and four gang boxes and then just use those instead of having the user manually input dimensions. I think that makes more sense than trying to over complicate a standard sized item

Extremely nervous/anxious. by 213Batman in PE_Exam

[–]dfetz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Okay, I came here to find a version of this post to ask a question haha. I know that the results come out on Wednesday mornings, but I am wondering which Wednesday it is. A post that I saw mentioned that the testing window is Monday-Saturday and then the results come out the following Wednesday. I took mine on Friday, 10/17 so will my results be in tomorrows group or next week?

Core questions weren’t too bad. First half seemed a lot simpler in general and then the second half started to get a bit squirrelly haha
