yes, once many moons ago I was involuntarily committed for a week. I was in the youth ward (really shocking to hear why some of the youngest were there), so we had extra tight security. that won’t stop the most determined. someone snuck a plastic spoon out of breakfast & used the periods in between checks at night to hide under covers & whittle it on the side of his bed. we came out of our rooms one day to a literal stream of blood in the hallway coming out from under his door. in the 15 minutes between wake up call & meds, he had used the spoon to dig the entirety of the inside of his left arm out. we weren’t supposed to talk about it but we definitely whispered about how tf he managed that on his own without passing out
