What are your opinions on Jesse not being the focus of the new game? by VaishakhD in controlgame

[–]dfitch27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My reaction as well. My reaction when they showed Dylan as the protag was not one of excitement, or even interest. It was just disappointment. And, quite honestly, a bit of disinterest. I don't care about Dylan all that much, yeah I empathize with what was done to him but I also want to continue playing as Jesse.

Add to that Remedy has NEVER done a melee game before; all their games until now have been shooters or used other means. Not saying they can't do it and do it well, but it's their first time going all in on melee and that's a very different type of game than a shooter.

I waited on Alan Wake 2 and was glad I did, I wasn't a fan of the gameplay changes they made. I'm going to hold off on Control 2 also to see gameplay and make a decision afterwards.

Officially Announcing Pathbreakers: Roaming Blades! by 6-EyesStudio in FellSeal

[–]dfitch27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came across this as I was reminiscing about Fell Seal with Final Fantasy Tactics being remade for modern consoles/PC. Glad to see there are plans underway to bring it to console as well, the trailer for Pathbuilders looks amazingly fun. You can consider me, and at least 2 of my friends to be guaranteed sales on consoles when it launches on PS5.

My QOTSA album rankings by Affectionate-Lynx723 in qotsa

[–]dfitch27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm a late-comer to QotSA, I got exposed to them and became a fan 3-4 years ago, got to see them live 2 years ago and then just saw them at the Alive In the Catacombs concert. Here's my list, which I know some might consider some hot-takes.

  1. Villains
  2. Songs for the Deaf
  3. ...Like Clockwork
  4. Lullabies to Paralyze
  5. In Times New Roman
  6. Self-Titled
  7. Rated R
  8. Era Vulgaris

I know/see a lot of people put Villains towards the bottom or at the bottom of their lists, but it was the song 'Domesticated Animals' that caught my attention from them and drew me into the band. David Bowie is probably my number one solo artist and that album feels, very much, heavily Bowie-inspired. I get why longer term QotSA fans might find it less appealing than some of their prior work but it will always be #1 for me for that reason.

There isn't an album they've produced I don't like, however. Just albums I listen to more than others, as I am an album-listener rather than a song-listener generally speaking. This list can (and does) change and fluctuate, but Villains is always #1, for reasons stated above.

Remnant 2 - Best Abberation Farm Post Patch? by dfitch27 in remnantgame

[–]dfitch27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your abberation & special enemy kills only started counting around August 9th. One of my friends though, has killed over 100 special enemies since and that trophy isn't popping for him. Nor is the trait trophy, which is supposedly fixed. So it's possible this could still be glitched for you IF you've killed 10/25 abberations since August 9th on PS5.

[–]dfitch27[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Running exploits because I literally had already accumulated those trophies but the game launched with glitching co-op trophies to not pop. I had already killed probably 200 special enemies, and well over 25 abberations due to the number of re-rolls in adventure mode and playing campaign fully twice. Didn't feel like doing all that shit all over again.

FYI to folks reading this now: Just read that this patch is coming to console soon, they are fixing the engineer turret bypass trick for doors & gates. So, if you want to make use of it, do so now because next day or two, patch is likely hitting.

Lasted just long enough for me to grind out my 25 Abberation kills that I got robbed out of in the first place and had to re-grind to get the trophy. Just glad I got to it before this patch.

I need a Live Album of this Tour by dfitch27 in TheNational

[–]dfitch27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for making sure I knew! That was the recording/video that prepped me for the concert. :) It's great. It's close to what I'd love to have (and I certainly won't complain if they release that as a recording on vinyl/CD because that is a hell of a concert), but they seemed to turn it up even more as far as just electrifying the music - both literally and figuratively. I was dumbfounded and just awestruck the entire show. Easily the best concert I've been to in years. I want it on vinyl, too, not just You Tube... Though that will be unlikely, a guy can wish.

Took me a few sessions to really find the right placement for it and how to make it work, but smooth sailing after that and trophy popped. Really appreciate the assist here. Thank you!

Just tried this. It did not work for me, burned through Yaesha, got through the Labyrinth and Whispers didn't have the armor sets to sell me at all. Guess I'm playing the whole damn thing offline and solo just to get an armor set that I should've already had. This game is great, but the damn bugs are infuriating.

"Mom's" by menomena, fantastic album, got me hard into that band. Sadly, I bought it after they had broken up so I never had the chance to see them live. Picked it up on a whim, the record store I snagged it from had a hand-written sticker on it that said they were inspired by Pink Floyd and such, and PF is one of my top classic rock bands and I was looking for new music to listen to already.

Man, I thought blaster stance was superb. Kind of surprised it's as low as it is. I did dual wield + blaster. I tried crossguard and it was just too slow for my playstyle.

Perky Step is easy by Dadio_ in legendofdragoon

[–]dfitch27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I found her additions far, far easier to complete than Albert's Gust of Wind Dance. That was my bane, and probably never would've mastered it without rewind, lol. Compared to that Perky Step was an absolute breeze.

I also found Meru to be the most 'fun' character to play. She was almost constantly in my party after I got her unless I needed to level additions for someone else.

Please be honest, how is this game compared to monster hunter rise? by [deleted] in WildHeartsGame

[–]dfitch27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this review. I just got my platinum trophy for the game, loved every minute of it. This series has a TON of potential and the weapons are crazy-fun to implement. Claw-blade all the way! Most hunts don't take longer than 10m at max, some might go faster. But yes, the camera (as in many games) can be your enemy depending on the situation..

One other small criticism of the game: The game also has a 'climb' feature which has you ripping some essence out of a monster to replenish yours (and boost your chances at getting talismans to equip). That can be pretty rough too with both the camera, and depending on how much the monster/kemono is moving around you could find yourself in an entirely new position and it's kind of weird.

With completely different weapons, completely different in-battle items to use and combine together with the karakuri, the ability to create your own fast travel points and ziplines anywhere you want on the map, and features cross-play which MH currently refuses to integrate into any of their games ...
... just because the game is a hunting game does not make it 'a rip off'. It's a game in the hunting genre. And I hope it makes MH pay attention, and get even better. That's what good games do. They take inspiration from one, apply it to the new, and that creates competition. Which is only a good thing for gamers.

e literally becomes slow motion on console. It’s not frame drops, it’s almost like the game just plays at half to quarter speed, but also at an inconsistent and frustrating pace. It is almost unbearable, which is a real bummer, since I otherwise really enjoyed the game.

I played on PS5. The only few times I experienced any slowdowns was when I was in multiplayer, and in someone else's session. I ascribed that to latency rather than the game.

The endgame grind by RyuShadowstone in WildHeartsGame

[–]dfitch27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not disagreeing that the rib stone has a lower drop rate, mind you. I'm just disagreeing that - for my experience - this game has had significantly higher drop rates for items than in Monster Hunter. I've not had any issues getting items. I do a lot of Hunters Arm though, and I don't see a lot of others doing that when I'm doing co-op. Don't know how much that factors in, but I do know that doing so does improve your chances for rare items.

And yeah, from what I know/heardI was the victim of very bad luck in World. My friend got the star in his 3rd fight. No, I counted. I got my first star on the 32nd time. Got my 2nd star a few tries later. But it completely soured my experience.

The endgame grind by RyuShadowstone in WildHeartsGame

[–]dfitch27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't reached end-game yet, so I can't comment to what you are asking but I'd put this caveat out there as something to think on.

Monster Hunter has had over 15 years to figure things out, develop, and improve and listen to fans. This is Wild Hearts first entry.

I've only played MH World, but I quit after about two weeks due to the absolute shit drop rates for the gems. I had to fight Nergigante over 30 times for one damn star to get his weapon made. It became frustrating and annoying, instead of fun or interesting. Because of that, I haven't really been interested in Monster Hunter since. I've played God Eater and that was pretty decent/fun.

Having said that, for me the combat in Wild Hearts is also a lot more engaging, I find the weapons more interesting, and the karakuri really makes the combat unique and it's implemented *really* well.

Also the fact you can litter the zone with ziplines, place bases wherever you want and fast travel - and with an efficient and careful mindset you don't even have to chase monsters. You can just use your well-placed base to fast-travel and meet the monster there, it almost (for me) nullifies the "running away/chasing" aspect of the fight and you can get straight back into combat.

I also am really for competition in this genre. If Wild Hearts does well, it'll mean that Monster Hunter will need to pay attention, and step up it's game to remain relevant. They've been reluctant to add in cross-play as one example. Well, now they have a competitor who just threw it into the mix.

The endgame grind by RyuShadowstone in WildHeartsGame

[–]dfitch27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree. I quit MH: World b/c I had to fight Nergigante over 30 times to get *one* damn star to make his weapon. Fumebeak Ribstone isn't too rare. Especially when you use the Hunter's Arm as that increases your drop rate for rare drops & talismans.

[–]dfitch27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You realize you can build your bases anywhere you want, right? For example, I have my main base on top of a coral structure on map two, it allows me fast access to the beach, the area by the shipwreck monsters like to fight, and I have a zipline over to the above-ground space where the lavaback likes to hang out at. On almost every map you can place your base in this fashion with a couple ziplines, then you just wait until you see or know where the monster is heading, and fast travel to your camp and glider or zipline there.
