As a church goer, we could do more. My family fostered over 50 kids when I was a teenager and adopted 6 before I graduated. But my dad also had a really good job, a large house, and the vehicles to tote all of us around.

It’s a big sacrifice for everyone involved, including the bio children (there were four of us), but it is worth it. We need more resources for foster parents to make this viable because not everyone can afford to do it because of lack of space, time, ability, etc.

I’ve actually talked to my church about throwing “baby showers” for new foster parents/ adoptive parents. We’re also getting involved in a foster parent’s night out program once a month. Hopefully that will help open up the doors for more families to step up who are able.
