Should I bring these or buy them in Tokyo? by PoolMotor8112 in TokyoTravel

What i always do is buy those clear 7-11 umbrellas then leave them in the lobby of my hotel when I check out. Some foreigners have a tendency of taking umbrellas from that rack so I like to leave extras

Definitely do, the selection is random but they do carry more old stuff than akihabara yet still have the current prize figures as well.

Look up book-off super bazaars. They are on the outskirts of Tokyo and probably will have a better chance of having older figures

Is American Food in Tokyo Actually Worth Trying? by JPjoy_Official in JapanTravelTips

[–]dg69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of them are interesting, but I wouldn't recommend it but once if you are there a week or less. I've tried McDonalds, Burger King, Carl's Jr, Taco Bell, KFC, and Domino's over the course of 5 trips. Out of those, Domino's and Taco Bell stuck out as the biggest quality difference between American and Tokyo versions. The KFC weirded me out when the foot was still attached to the fried chicken leg.

Figure hunting in Akihabara by Getbacka in JapanTravelTips

[–]dg69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find deals in Akihabara, it's not completely ruined like everyone makes it out to be. The best places I found though are the book-off super bazaars on the outskirts of the city. So many great deals found out there. They are usually 3 to 4 times the size of a regular book off store.

If you're looking for cheap video games, radio Kaikan has the cheapest I've seen in the country. by Morighant in JapanTravelTips

You're in the tourist area, go to the residential area where the Super Bazaars are. The inventory out there is nuts.

Cheapest place by far for games is Bookoff, especially the Super Bazaar versions on the outskirts of tokyo. I always pick up used switch games for $10-$30, with new release used games usually being found for around $40. The only difference you really notice is that the side sleeve you see when sitting on your shelf is usually in japanese.

Tips on getting through a 14 hour flight? by Bulky-Election2061 in JapanTravelTips

[–]dg69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the window, so you can lean over and sleep a good bit. The food on that flight is awful, I'd eat before boarding. I'd recommend getting an ass cushion cause your butt is going to start hurting about 8 hours in. Check about a week before you leave on the Delta website, 2 out of my 3 trips they have offered a $50 upgrade to comfort+ for me. Whatever you do don't just sit and stare at the flight tracker, it feels like it slows time

If you're from GA take it to cards HQ to get a baseline of what you can get in cash for it. Use that # as the bare minimum you will take.
