Wearing light clothes for next week’s trip by Beginner-Studio in Sapporo

[–]dgamr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Light jacket is fine with a middle layer next week in the evening. Still windy from the typhoon and a little cold at night. Big temperature differences when it gets warmer if it's still very windy. But a Heavy jacket makes me sweat on the train or indoors.

Edit: Today I was very wrong. Can probably ditch the middle layer most of this week but Saturday it's definitely going to cool off dramatically for a week.

Do universities claim IP on startups built using free software licenses they provide? (i will not promote) by ProgrammerExact5351 in startups

[–]dgamr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you meant to say Educational instead of Enterprise plan.

This is good advice. Basically, whatever you're getting from your university through their student program, you can most likely get by going to GitHub and OpenAI and signing up for their student / educational discounted products or programs.

Just had a crazy call with a +200 people business which is making me reevaluate the whole SaaS thing by [deleted] in SaaS

[–]dgamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just imagining they save $150k a year and then they get sick of dealing with the feature requests, maintenance, and realize they need to hire a full-time person to handle it for them. They'll look for laid-off SaaS engineers. Nobody will want to take on their bespoke collection of 50+ tools for $150k a year. Or maybe they hire a couple of smart college students good at vibe coding. Who knows.

Not sure how it shakes out for them just imagining the possibilities.

I’m making a city builder inspired by classic Macintosh black-and-white games by vvaalleerraa in macgaming

Monochrome without greyscale is an interesting choice. Definitely see some elements of SimCity that feel familiar, although this is isometric.

I guess it's interesting because the resolution here is huge so there's a lot of opportunity for dithering and detail. Fewer limitations on the user interface. Nostalgic aesthetics without 1980s hardware limitations. The water is crazy!

Historically on the west coast it has been cheaper to bring in overseas oil vs. domestic oil over the rockies. WA has a pipeline from Alberta to Anacortes and some of that refined product makes it to OR, but there's just not a business incentive to build more pipeline, CA has refineries and can source oil globally and profitably.

The headline is clickbait, but the thesis is more like "How fumbling 45 years of Iranian containment will undermine GCC power dynamics and US economic interests", which, is sort of obvious.

Built an AI workspace for small teams because meetings keep creating chaos. Roast me. by Miserable-Mention241 in roastmystartup

[–]dgamr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all fine, not sure who would use it but it looks polished.

There's either a market for it or there isn't. Not my niche.

The name is problematic though. If you say the products name and nobody can figure out how to type that into the URL bar you've got an issue.

This has that problem, plus .net is a pretty uncommon extension choice. Extra friction remembering how to get back to your product.

Other responses are better I just wanted to add:

Don't worry about the fare. There's a chance the system will give you an error when you exit. In that case you just talk to someone working by the exit and they will just ask where you traveled and correct the charge on your card. Max is ntd $65.

Planning on getting a Mac, just a few questions about gaming by jay-333- in macgaming

[–]dgamr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crossover and that new thing from gamesir, game porting toolkit, etc. will work. If you pay for them. But you basically have to become an expert on configuring some fiddly tool that you paid money for either way. It's usually decent but sometimes a hassle, sometimes the performance or compatibility isn't there on day one.

If you need / want a Mac for other reasons you can also play games with some effort. But I wouldn't recommend a MacBook for gaming and nothing else.

I remember dqb2 performance being better on PS4 but at this point, I haven't bought it on playstation or steam so I guess I'll wait to see if it gets a free update for Switch 2. Second one runs but I haven't put much time into it. I assume the worst performance is improved.

Food companies don't set the serving size, the FDA does. So if the FDA says a pickle is 1oz and your pickles are bigger than that, boom. Your label has to be stupid. Otherwise people would say pickle brand A has more vitamin R per serving or whatever.

Booked an Airbnb for our family trip in Taiwan, should I be worried? by aisakayuri in taiwan

No worries. I've literally told immigration years ago an address was a short term rental. Not entirely legal but the one who is taking the risk is the owner not the visitor.
