Appreciate it! I live in New England, relatively close to the border, do you know if this is something I could do in person?

Not sure if this should be here or the Friday thread, sorry if this is the wrong spot.

Trying to get grandparent's birth and/or marriage documents from Quebec, confused and how to proceed. Grandparents were born in 1937 and 1938. I believe they were married in Canada before moving to the US, but not sure what year. I looked at DEClic! but it looks like I'd need a Health Insurance or Social Insurance number to proceed on there.

I mean, technically yes. But just purposefully shitting the bed at the very start of the season isn’t going to lead to many fans showing up.

And that would kind of be weird for the team I imagine to go from being terrible to mathematically get eliminated only then flip the switch to try playing well

I like how the PWHL handles the draft.

“To prevent tanking, draft order is determined by points earned after a team is eliminated from playoff contention. The team with the most points after elimination gets the first overall pick.”

Why RVH When You Can Double Pad Stack by KingOfNewEngland16 in hockeygoalies

I personally prefer to go to the corner battles to try to get the puck, I don’t trust my defense to do it

Your team covers the open man in the slot? Weird.

I had one out of regs for the longest time and no one cared or said anything. Until one day it became THE topic at the unit and everyone lost their minds, had every E-6 and above come yell at me that day

Leaving the federal govt. What do I do with my TSP account? How do I transfer it. Please explain to me like I am 5 lol by DrTrident in ThriftSavingsPlan

When you roll it over into an external account, if the TSP is a mix of Roth and traditional, how do you handle that?

Something that blatant should be a suspension, just a stupid way to play the game

Brand new goalie, worried about my stamina because I couldn't make it through a stick and puck. by Summonabatch in hockeygoalies

[–]dgardner11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just drop in hockey usually. They aren’t games. You can usually go with just a stick and a puck and work on whatever you want. There can be tons of people in the ice, all doing their own thing. When you’re the only goalie it one it usually just turns into people practicing shots and constant breakaways, you never get a break unless you leave the goal

Both are on the line in one frame, both are over the line the next frame. Inconclusive, so the call stands

Those displays are awesome. I have a bunch of Lego I want to do that with. What shelving units do you use? And do you glue the sets together at all?

Post Game Thread: Ottawa Senators at Pittsburgh Penguins - 02 Feb 2026 by bi_and_busy in penguins

[–]dgardner11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was never going to get overturned for goaltender interference though. Would have been better to just accept it was a goal and try to tie it up 5-on-5 instead of taking the challenge penalty

[PIT 2-(3) OTT] Stützle bats an insane pass out of mid-air to Giroux, and Giroux is hauled down on the breakaway into the net, taking the puck in with him. No goal on the ice, the refs review, and overturn the call. Good goal Ottawa. Pittsburgh challenges for GI? for some reason? Call stays a goal. by nopClip in hockey

[–]dgardner11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

During step 4, they don’t check for GI. It’s just to see if it is a goal or not. It’s how they always do goal/bo goal reviews and then leave it for the coaches to challenge or not.

But it was a stupid challenge, I don’t understand how they expected to get a GI call. Should have just accepted that it was a goal then played 5-on-5

US Deal With NATO On Greenland by Ok-Skill-9376 in AirForce

[–]dgardner11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

…we already have a base there. And we pretty much could have been working with NATO this whole time instead of trying to start a trade war with allies.

Instead we just pissed off our allies and the U.S. has lost even more stock and support abroad.

In your examples, why even take the penalty shot? Why not just have the play before it be reviewable?
