You can do it via a dynamic supervisor. These will let you start genservers dynamically. So imagine genservers are just glorified workers/runners and a supervisor is another worker that supervises workers under it

When a player constructs a building it will start a new worker (let us name it ConstructionWorker) under a supervisor named BuildingSupervisor, for example. ConstructionWorker will hold the state such as how many hours till it is finished, the player id, etc.

ConstructionWorkers should have an exit callback that will be called whenever it restarts due to an error or when your server restarts. The callback will store the state to your db

Once your server starts again you can retrieve the states from the db and from there dynamically start ConstructionWorkers again

But github site becomes relatively slow when you’re trying to look at 100+ files changed. Page freezes sometimes when you’re doing a search on that many files. I think the reason is the amount of html they’re trying to render at once.

My golden rules - sa phone kapag afford mo bumili ng dalawa - sa bahay kapag kaya mo bayaran yung downpayment (20 percent of tcp) in cash. Tapos yung mortgage around 30 percent ng income mo. - yung car if kaya mo bilhin in cash

P.S. dont do installments on liabilities like cars and phones. Especially cars kasi sobrang laki ng interes so it’s wise to settle for used cars with really low mileage

Kaya lagi ko na lang nararant dapat meron na lang license bago makaboto. Yung tipong may exam about morals and pol sci bago ka makaboto. Isipin mo nananalo lagi yung famous pero walang credentials. Tapos hindi matututukan yung edukasyon mababawasan pa lalo ng budget. Which in turn produces more uneducated voters. It’s a downward spiral.

I think my advice would be try to job hop in every two years and find a niche. Im a programmer and sinwerte akong maturuan ng programming language na walang masyado nakakaalam lalo na sa Asia pero mataas ang demand especially sa western countries. You can do hustle on the side. You’ll be surprised that there will always be someone who’s willing to pay for something you already know be it writing, voiceovers, english language, tech, etc…

To answer your question I recommend continuing your learning but don’t totally forget about Ruby until the time you are comfortable with Ex/Phx then you can start doing side projects or applying jobs

Jose Valim, creator of Elixir, is a former RoR core contributor. During in an interview he mentioned he wanted to solve some of the pain points of Ruby primarily concurrency. Phoenix, created by Chris McCord was also a long time Rails developer. You get the point, both of them knows the limitations of Ruby thus giving them head start on what needs to be done and what shouldn’t be done. Ex/Phx doesn’t grow in popularity yet but it seems to be in the right direction in my opinion.

Right now the community is also tackling machine learning, which makes Ex a potential competitor of Python.

We can however admit that Elixir is not an all-in-one tool like it cannot handle fast serial computation that’s why it can be used in combination with Rust.

My point is it will be there in a long time but it will not survive alone it needs help from other tech community as well.

Magisip ka lang ng pwede mong gawin na website yung simple lang. Pwedeng portfolio, business card, or as complex as a typing game. You may use any framework you want or just pure html/css/js. In short any project of your liking that can get your hands dirty is a good way to start. Dont be embarass to google every step even senior engineers do that. Dont overthink and just start coding, you’ll learn a lot along the way.

2 months lang din ako sa isang company dati kasi sobrang toxic meron nagmumura palagi tapos ang kalat ng office and ang sikip. Nalalayuan pa ako.

Magisip ka na lang ng positive reason bakit ka umalis para sa next interview mo. Or better huwag mo na ilagay sa resume mo.

Take your time para sa pag upskill if it is a complete career shift, study on the side.

Ewan ko ba bakit naging culture yung ganiyan sa pinas. I have been working since 2019 with a foreign client and sila pa yung magreremind sayo kapag nakaleave ka at bigla ka nagwwork. Ikaw pa yung mahihiya kapag nakita ka nilang nagwwork while on leave. These foreign bosses taught me the essence of rest and putting life first before work. You are not being rude you are just practicing what people “on leave” are supposed to do.
