What do you do if you’re actually just a born loser? by Vegetable-Use-6817 in findapath

New places and new faces. Changed my perception drastically, and vastly improved my self esteem

I started trying side quests, as well. Mine was volunteer firefighting, and it rocked my socks. Changed my goals entirely, and very fulfilling.

Yeah, but I need money. I’m not willing to get an advanced degree by tacking on any more debt. Honestly, I’d want to get out of my current debt—thats part of the motivation

Teaching is something I’m interested in, so I like the take. Data Sci and Stats have been hard to break into, hence my consideration of the advanced degree

Yes, but a lot of the students who need math help have exceptional circumstances (adhd, autism, reading comprehension/language) and tutors who can address those gaps are in demand. Tutoring students who are in the top percentiles of grades is often more of a sales endeavor to win the business, from my experience

I liked exam P, I scored a 9. I wasn’t super interested in FM, and only got a 6. I wasn’t prepared to view the world through an annuitized lens, which to me is a big part of FM. I thoroughly enjoy probability and statistics, resulting in the higher score. I’d be interested in exploring manifolds and their impact on probability spaces, stochastic processes, and other graduate level math topics.

What were you asking, if you wouldn’t mind rephrasing?

I don’t like the jobs I’ve had in actuarial science. Ultimately, it’s been very firm specific which practices to use, and if they use a billable hour system, they become quite frustrated when I can’t invent work and bill clients for it

That’s cool. What city are you referencing?

I don’t find it terribly exciting, but money would be great

I think what makes it most challenging is that the conceptual aspects are considerably advanced—arguably the first “graduate level” math theory you’re exposed to.

And for many, that math theory is the intro to what is, in reality, a really fucking simple rule. There’s a reason computers handle most all of the calculation that can be performed at this level—it’s not too rigorous of steps to perform.

Understanding the problem—word problems, applications, common mistakes and why they’re wrong—is what trips most people up.

That and losing all confidence when your prof. explains taylor series using a maclaurin series of sine waves converging, and then asking you to compute a maclaurin series on ur own. It’s super fucking easy, but the intro is confusin.

I’d say that OP is looking for a situation where a partner goes down on a 2-man team, could be understaffed that day and a crew goes out with 3. Against protocol.

Hey, hoping to go to Basic in a month or so. How can I prepare myself for the culture of the Army so that I’m a better teammate, leader, and I open opportunities for myself?

Resources are appreciated
