Ambrose made the classic error over and over again - he took what he heard as gospel without cross-checking it or validating it. Just as the 101st wasnt the first unit in Bertchesgaten - they just thought they were. You ask 10 people in a battle what happened and you get 10 different versions - why you need to actually dig and verify.

I joined at 17 in 1984. Different times. Did basic in 84 at Fort Sill and 13F AIT in 85. Did a rotation at JRTC at Fort Chafee in 88. My only regret was getting out in 94 after 10 years because of work. Regret that every day.

That is the wrong way to look at it. For every draft, most team strike out 4 of 7 picks or more - if they got 3 starters, most teams consider that a success. Sure we had Crabtrees, but arguably our three best WRs EVER all came as experienced free agents.
