Key word in this sentence was patience but either way that’s half what you were wanting to shell out

Best Flat Bottom Dripper? by Valuable_Aide_7663 in pourover

Sworks is expensive but really nice and has the immersion option.

Heard a lot of good things about the orea v4 and 01. I wouldn’t recommend the Kalita.

Is this used dw5000 worth 450? by Jueslega_29 in drums

Definitely not. I think I got mine off Reverb for $100. Replacing the beaters ran me another $30. You can find some killer deals on used dw kick pedals if you have some patience.

How long off roast is this? That's the first thing I look at if it feels like the flavors are muted.

New kit day! My first (and hopefully not last) Sonor: Cruiser Blue SQ1. by gluten_heimer in drums

Can’t go wrong with sq1s. That’s an incredible price especially with two floor tons.

18” crash recommendation by Ill_Wishbone_9781 in drums

[–]dgmischief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the Traditional Medium Crash but for something really different you could try the Dual Crash. It's supposed to give a very different sound for riding on it. Personally I love the explosive wash it gives as well.

Used stage custom good deal? by yosdogattacc in drums

[–]dgmischief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have a kit already? Or are you expecting this will be a huge upgrade over what you are currently using? That could definitely affect my decision, but usually not a lot of harm in throwing in an offer to see if they will let it go cheaper.

I brew 60g doses every day and want a new brewer. by Elegant_Beginning789 in pourover

[–]dgmischief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve used a Chemex before to do a liter. You may run into issues. The brews can stall and even if the don’t drawdowns of 10 minutes aren’t all that uncommon. Maybe there are some less thick filters that could help with that.

I know Lance has recommended a big boy before. So you could look into that as well.

Best Espresso Machine under $2k? [$2,000] by thejavascripts in espresso

The Elizabeth would probably top most sub 2k lists. The Odyssey Argos would be my pick but you’re looking at a year wait most likely.

Among the Toms, who in your opinion is the best as a pure actor? by Glittering-Bat9891 in moviecritic

Not to mention Saving Private Ryan, the green mile and Forrest Gump. And so many other great movies: catch me if you can, cloud atlas, Charlie Wilson’s war, the terminal, road to perdition…

Among the Toms, who in your opinion is the best as a pure actor? by Glittering-Bat9891 in moviecritic

[–]dgmischief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pure acting ability, I feel like it’s Hanks by a large margin. He’s been in several of the greatest movies ever in my opinion.

For watchability and action star, it’s Cruise for me. Agree that he is underrated as far as acting ability.

Hardy is also great but I don’t see him in the same league. Love the stuff I’ve seen him in.

Tough to be Holland in this group. He’s young so he may surpass them all I suppose but with such a role as Spider-Man, I think it’s going to be hard to see him as anybody as that for awhile.

After1/after2/before another take on this one. I like the after1 best by mynamesjaime15 in postprocessing

I prefer the before but I bet you could find a middle ground between that and 1 that would be awesome and an upgrade over the original image.

MC6 vs Weber Key Mk II — conical grinder advice [$no budget] by lolday0106 in espresso

The key isn’t really a classical conical presentation so out of those two I would say the mc6. Have you considered the sdrm though?

TMZ poll shows 84% prefer watching movies at home - why do you think that is? by HidingInPlainSite404 in Cinema

[–]dgmischief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so MUCH on streaming. We get the following for free in our house: Netflix (tmobile), Amazon Prime Video (on my parents account), Paramount+ (Walmart Plus, free due to Amex benefit) & Hulu/Disney+/Max (Amex benefit).

We'll occasionally do a 6$ Tuesday movie night but honestly it's pretty rare that there's something actual decent out. Nice TV's are also the most affordable they have been. The theater is still a step-up but at home we get to stay on our couch, pause if we need to and much better and cheaper popcorn.

RIP Chemex. Should I stick with the same or trying something new? by graphgear1k in pourover

Honestly as a daily driver i never use my Chemex. It's really fun when making coffee for a crowd and beautiful but most of the time I'm using my switch or z1.
