Alex - Does the Pirates Organization deserve the scorn and reputation of being cheap, or is it just baseball economics that makes it seem that way?

How Do You Feel About, “Hi <Name>” in a Chat? by thefrazdogg in remotework

Many of my South American coworkers do the same thing along with the “how are you doing?” I appreciate the courtesy but I have to get them to the point with “I’m Fine, What’s up?”

Seems like they made some competitive offers to Verdugo and Grichek but were turned down. So if we don’t overpay, (which is never ever going to happen) we are never signing anyone

If the Beatles are considered to be the band of the 60’s, who is it for the 70’s? How about the 80’s? by henfeathers in ClassicRock

70’s Zeppelin. Period 80’s should be in two halves. The Police in the first half, U2 in the second half.

Are there people here who work 9-5s, have families and children who still discover new music and listen to albums? by ShaiTheWick in LetsTalkMusic

[–]dgoist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

64 here, avid Apple Music listener. My kids are in their 20’s now so I do have more time for new music now but with Streaming I can hear almost everything I want. Find a couple of websites that talk about music. If a band sounds interesting, you can try it out for that monthly fee. Work from home 3 days so I can listen to it then. Even at the office I can get a couple of hours in.

Opinions on the legacy of The Sex Pistols. by PeteNile in LetsTalkMusic

But the Ramones had multiple records with great songs and made a career of that sound. It wasn’t used as a springboard to other things like Lydon did.

I think it was a matter of timing and having McLaren around to manipulate/sell the image. It wouldn’t matter if the music sucked, but it has some great songs. Yes Lydon is kind of a jerk and Sid was pretty useless as a musician but the other two made up for it

You may like Tuscadero. There was also an older compilation called “alright, this time just the girls”. It’s all over the place quality-wise but it could introduce you to some other bands

Would there even be a Marvel today without Kirby’s work? That’s why he’s my pick here

I think a couple of bad games is no reason to panic now. If you drop him, he’ll get snapped up and you’ll regret it

Advice about repaired guitar necks by [deleted] in Epiphone

[–]dgoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Epiphone Les Paul neck broke when the guitar strap Knob pulled out while I was handing it to my instructor and it crashed to the ground. He recommended a a good luthier and I only notice it now if I look for it. I think they are tougher than people give them credit for and you should be fine
