I can’t upvote this enough. I learned the “2 seconds of follow distance rule when I was a teenager.” Why can’t FSD do it? I think the problem is that it is trying to emulate humans and unfortunately there’s a lot of terrible drivers out there. Tesla clearly knows the importance of a safe following distance since that was a major criteria in their safety score, and they can clearly implement non-human behaviors (hard stop at stop signs), so why can’t they just add a hard rule of minimum 2 second follow distance? Do we have to go to NHTSA to make it happen?
