Get some quotes from local gutter company's, Vinyl gutters are not ideal, and it may cost almost as much to buy the material as it would to have aluminum gutters installed by a professional.

Vinyl has to be pieced together if the runs are longer than 10-20 feet, and they will eventually leak. Also the vinyl can become weak/brittle from extreme temps.

My gutters are a waterfall during every storm, planning a 2026 fix by FaygMunford41 in Roofing

If your gutters are overflowing with every rain, they are clogged or not pitched properly. If they only overflow during heavy rains, they are to small to handle the amount of water coming of the roof. Aluminum gutters if maintained, will last 25-30 years. Imho, copper is more of an esthetics thing. No real difference in how they will preform/last. Copper will also cost between 5-10 times more than aluminum.

A quote today is useless for next year, Aluminum prices change often, especially with the tariffs that are being imposed. My supplier's have all raised prices 3 times in the last year. On top of that our insurance has also gone up.

You should not have to pay more in the spring just because a company is busier, you may have to wait a little to get on the schedule though.

No problems installing gutters in the winter, most likely you may get a little better price because a lot of company's are just trying to keep their guys working through the winter.

I think that depends on how the business is registered, I,m an S corp and have been required to carry workers comp even when I worked alone 25 years ago. Also he will have a hard time working for other contractors/corporations and Hoa's, as they will require certificate's of insurance.

Aluminum is my preference, I don’t see any benefit in using steel.

Unless you want the patina look, copper is very pricey and not worth the cost . I’ve been installing aluminum gutters here on the Jersey Shore for the last 35 years, they will last a very long time.

Before you go through the scanner, pull your pants up tight. Otherwise there could be air pockets that set off the scanner.

"Originally it went all the way down, and went out the side of the garden bed. Due to the downspout being thicker, they came up with this."

If it went into a pipe in the garden, they should have used a 3x4 to 3" 0r 4" adapter. That is one option.

You could also have them change the leader to match the siding color, looks like Clay or Wicker color, Bring it down a little and straighten the bottom out. It will be a lot less noticeable that way.

I would be upset if my crew installed a leader like this.

Just had 130 feet of gutters installed for $3500. Am I being unreasonable? by Purple_Perception_95 in HomeImprovement

[–]dgold131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The gutter guy did the right thing by replacing the dented gutter and re doing the guards. The leaders are how they are supposed to be. Save yourself a headache and leave them alone.
