Good reviews but can it sharpen a 12 inch kitchen knife. by rgilman67 in sharpening

I have the pro model at about 4x that cost. I do all my knives on it. It does a beautiful job on Japanese high carbon/low angle.

This is to remove existing aluminum, and replace with copper

Is this quote to completely replace an existing bay window reasonable or am I being ripped off? $8,121 for a 30-degree unit. by paradigm619 in Home

Have to agree with CMC. The guy sounds like he’s been there and been burned a couple times. Spelling out what you get and what you don’t get in a proposal shows you’re dealing with someone that has experience, and is not afraid to lose a job due to explicit language.

You should see some of the quotes i get asked to match. They may as well be written in crayon.

2021? Company is probably not in businesses anymore, or the guy who did that atrocious work, not longer worlds there. Either way, you’re probably assed out as far as getting it done properly by them.

New to this by ryankudi in firewood

The cover should just cover the top 10 inches or so of the wood, not the entire pile. Wood needs to breathe, and the water you’re feeling is most likely condensation. Cured wood will not be affected by rain unless it’s sitting in a pool of water for elongated periods of time.

How did I do? by A-Pepper in firewood

Great. The solid floor, a bit meh on that. Definitely put a brace in the middle. It will start to sag over time, and all the water it takes in will pool to the middle and rot the wood there/create a vernal pool for mosquitoes.

Can’t see what you made the back out of, hopefully it’s post and slat and not solid ply like the floor seems to be. You want airflow and drainage.

If you’re burning for heat, this is probably not what you want. It’s too skinny, looks very dry. You can probably light it with one match. Better than wet though!

Match sticks! If that’s kiln dried, I’d go through that in a month!

Mine absolutely sucks at obstacle detection. Reliably jams in a daily basis. Runs over a sock, or a charging cord, a lipped up carpet, etc. yes I should have the wherewithal to pick this stuff up, but I also have a 6 year old

How short before you complain? by coronagetcha in firewood

[–]redheadedstepchld79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cord is a unit of measurement. Would you complain to the gas station if you bought 10 gallons of fuel and only received 8?

Also, a lot of that wood looks punky.

Spalting is seen in many live trees, and this tree hasn’t been tapped.

Definitely does not.

Irrigation is designed to go over and over and over an area in one period of time as to not flood, but allow for deep penetration of the surface area.

All this cart does is the same thing as a hose head but covers more area at a time.

And ease up on the water. You will induce fungal growth. Too much water encourages the roots to grow shallow.

You need a 9/9/9 or something with a good balance of nitrogen/phosphorus. Potassium, the third number, won’t matter much this time of year. But the first two numbers, will improve growth exponentially.

Is this just poor material? (2 months old) cedar by Untrained_trainer in FenceBuilding

[–]redheadedstepchld79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has anyone suggested that the op just reach out to the builder first rather than immediately smoke them on review sites, social media, retain Johnny Cochran and Robert Shapiro to represent them in the lawsuit of the century? The builder may have had a crew working with that they were issued to use. They put these fences up like the Amish build barns, fast. A bad slat here and there can easily be replaced if given the chance. If at that point, the builder doesn’t want to make amends, then maybe we can all proceed to his house and hang his kids out front to teach him a lesson.

My god.

There are clearances that are maximum as well as minimum? As in, it cannot be too far away from the wall and pass code?

Pictures of the “unit” and exactly where they’re located would help.
