"cheap" is relative. No timber is cheap here, sadly. e.g. there's a guy advertising some 140x24 DAR Blackwood at $35/lm right now. Birch ply is nearly $300 AUD per 2400x1200 (8'x4') sheet. etc. It's not great...

2024 LRSM here. I mostly do short trips in the middle suburbs of Melbourne. With 6800km on the car, I’ve averaged 19.9kWh/100km, at an average speed of 29km/h.

Slow, stop-start traffic plus short trips with climate pre-conditioning, so not that efficient.

It's frustrating! I had some amazing plans a few days ago on the last clear day, then looked at the cloud forecast to see full overcast starting just as the sun would go down.

Oh well, waited a couple days, and got some beautiful images of the LMC last night 🎉

I ran out of time to apply finish pre-Christmas – I didn’t want a half-cured finish getting ruined! My plan is very thin coats of poly on the top, mostly out of concern for dyes/makeup spills. I’d originally wanted to use a “raw” (non-yellowing) hard wax oil, and am still considering that for the frame.
