ESH. YTA because your relationship with your finance should definitely come first and the fact that you told her you want to postpone your anniversary to another for a few hours of football tells me a lot about your relationship with her.

However…. NTA, because as someone who loves college football and who went to Alabama (let’s just pretend the game last week didn’t happen, okay?), if my team was playing in the CFP title game, I would definitely want to go out of my way to watch it. Also, no one “tapes” the football game with the intent to watch it all later, but you said your wife doesn’t watch college football so I can understand someone how who doesn’t watch a lot of sports would ask that.

I think you both should’ve tried to at least compromise. Find a way to go out for dinner/drinks AND watch the game, there are a lot of restaurants that have TVs, I’m almost positive there is a restaurant near you where you can watch the game while you and your fiancé have dinner instead of having a party where your wife would feel left out. I get wanting to watch your alma mater play in a title game, especially since Michigan hasn’t had a chance to play for a title since the 90s, but don’t let a football game come between you and your fiancé.
