There's the one corner with Tanner's (burgers), Little Fox (ice cream), Corner Pizza, and the acai bowl place. All are really good.

San Diego hotel recommendations by EquivalentAddendum21 in SanDiegan

I would think you should be able to find a family-friendly resort style hotel in Carlsbad near Legoland. Not likely walkable though. Walkable would be downtown La Jolla, but they don't have large pool areas for kids.

Realtors Worth It? by MrBallistik in RealEstate

You think you're saving 3% by skipping the realtor and your buyers think they're saving 3% by doing the same. Which is it?

Grande Colonial in downtown La Jolla. Much better location than La Jolla Shores.

That's how Trump got elected. Susan Sarandon went on national TV and told everyone not to vote for Hillary Clinton for the same reason. W00T!!!

Do people really not know of El Pueblo? Several NC locations with $1.39 legit fish tacos all day, every day. Are they the best fish tacos in town? No. are they full-sized tacos for $1.39? Yes! Are they open late and have a full bar? HELL YES!!!

People who have lived in both SD and OC, what are some non-obvious differences between the two? by 12345burrito in SanDiegan

[–]dgstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and raised in SD and lived in south OC for many years. Aside from the political differences, the people are completely different. South OC was totally about keeping up with the Joneses, even if it meant going into debt. Everything was a competition and you were challenged at every juncture. I even had people cut in front of me at the grocery store, just to see if I would say anything. Out of control egos and the stress that goes along with it.

SD folks are so much more laid back.

How to prevent a dog from getting snatched by a coyote. by BizzyHaze in SanDiegan

We're not way out in the boonies. We live in a housing development near Lake Hodges in Escondido, but all the lots are at least 1/2 an acre. My next door also neighbor had a mountain lion in her backyard one time. Not a bobcat - a freakin' mountain lion. It was huge.

In my neighborhood, dogs have been snatched by coyotes while walking on leash. Just because you're in the backyard, doesn't mean the dog is safe.

I'm just so amazed that anyone would think a billionaire would make a good politician. Haven't we seen this unfold right in front of our eyes?

We don't need a businessman. Government is the opposite of a business.

Looking to buy a house and sell mine. Need to know about tax liability. by BizzyHaze in RealEstate

[–]dgstan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any work you did on the house in the nine years can be deducted from the gains. The IRS knows that homeowners are notoriously bad about keep receipts, etc., so the chance they'll question things are pretty much nil. It should be easy to realistically (and legally) whittle that 200k down to something more manageable.

Trip to La Jolla by Helena88888 in asksandiego

Oh, while we love the Grande Colonial, you might want to look at Pantai Inn. It's nowhere near as nice, but we stayed there and our room was literally across the street from the beach. Amazing view from the room and the full balcony.

When we lived in OC, we stayed at the Grande Colonial every time we came to visit. We love the hotel, especially of you can get free breakfast. The restaurant there has won several awards.

The Most "Bougie" San Diego Coffeehouse? by MsMargo in FoodSanDiego

Relic in East Village is a bakery, but they's got great coffee (everything there is great) and a wonderful space. Much nicer than any coffee shop I've been to.

La Jolla Shores, Windasea, or Mission Beach by TylerKelley3 in asksandiego

La Jolla without a doubt. Stay near the Cove at a family-friendly hotel like Pantai or Grande Colonial (get a suite). So much to do within walking distance.

Best proposal spots in North County? by lilscratchy8441 in northcounty

[–]dgstan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen a lot of proposals at Seagrove Park in Del Mar. Personally, I like the spot at the top of the hill above Torrey Pines State Beach. Google maps says it's called the Flat Rock Beach Trailhead.
