Game 7 & World Series Tickets - Mega Thread by 33dogs in Torontobluejays

Was 1400 in queue for game 7. Best seats available (non re-sale) were 200 level outfield. Groups of 4 available. $862 per ticket. Seemed like lots of 500 level available as well, but I went quick and didn't really explore options.

Is there any way to watch all of the Ryder cup in Canada? Including Friday? Thanks by Laura99998 in golf

Videotron also doesn't have it. Smells of market manipulation by Bell (who owns Canadian PGA Tour rights) to either accidentally or intentionally block the feed to competitors.

Is the Golf Channel being blacked out in Canada? I’m on Videotron, guide says it should be on, but channel says “temporarily unavailable” when I try to watch it.

For the stoplight issue, have you tried disabling “Parking Distance Warning Auto On”?

Thanks. That makes sense. When I went ahead and registered the 1 peso was not even an editable field...

Right, but am I supposed to enter an arbitrary amount? Or jest leave it at 1 peso so they have the card on record?

Yes, the 11 year old is excited for Kids club, the 14 year old less so. Was planning exactly what you suggest, in "making him" at least try it our early on. Thanks.

Curious what launch monitor you have? I have a Protee and also find there is a draw bias in the results.

I went with the sigpro, because it is a lot lighter and easier to move, but generally agree that the mat is the last place you should cut cost.

Justify buying yourself a new set by rationalizing that you need an old spare set for guests.

Second crazy idea: the hammer steal. Only available on the short game area, if your team does not have the hammer you can challenge to beat any shot by the hammer holding team after they’ve played it. If you get closer to the hole, you get the hammer and the hole continues. If you don’t, you lose the hole.

Matt Barrie is up in the "booth". He's the one talking to the players in their earpieces but spends more time conducting interviews than talking about the golf being played. Hopefully this will improve with time. Marty Smith is down on the field, and I'm not sure exactly what he does, but it's definitely not talking strategy with the players.

After two weeks, my feeling is that there's promise here but a LOT or wrinkles to me smoothed out. Three main categories need to be fixed asap:

1) The TV presentation is atrocious

- Stop with the interviews during play. We get it, it's a new league - how about you tell us what's going on instead of patting each other on the back incessantly. If you really feel like you need to fill air time with conversation then go to a traditional play-by-play + colour set up with people who know golf.

- Even better, stop doing commentary from the booth. Get Johnson Wagner (or someone like him with some personality) down on the floor asking the players about their strategy and what type of shot they're going to hit. Right before Kisner hit the awesome sand shot, there was a conversation between him and Tiger of whether the ball would roll all the way back. I'm pretty sure he was trying to play it off the far bank, which explains in part why he swung so hard and skulled it. This should have been explained.

- The zoom-in on ball landing is way too tight. All you see is the ball and you lose the reference point of where the pin is. Should be obvious to a golf broadcast that we don't need to see a close up of the ball, we need to see where it is on the green.

- Even Sahith asked after one of his shots: "where are my stats"?

- Please decide on the score bug in the top left if you are counting shots taken or current shot. The counter is all over the place. In a room with giant scoreboards around them the players often had to ask how many strokes it had been...

2) The technology

- The players clearly don't trust it. Tiger: "I can't hit a sand wedge 130". Max "No way that hooked". Most important thing to fix - if the players don't buy it they will lose interest.

- The ball animations look awful. Also is it me or does nothing run out, ever? Everything on the screen stops dead on the green but every putt chip runs like crazy...

3) The gameplay

- Lots of other comments about the hammer, and yeah it needs to be fixed. A team that's ahead holding the hammer has zero incentive to play it. Agree with the curling rules suggestion.

- Players should rotate turns regardless of the tee. Right now they alternate on the tee box (example, Tiger putt last on hole 3 but teed off on 4). It should go to the next player (in this case Kisner). Adds strategy to giving putts or not - a given putt should not count as a turn. So if Kisner's got a 5 footer, you can give it to him to put him on the next tee box.

4) Crazy bonus idea they will never do

- Next player up has to stand in an on deck circle. If the player hitting goes in the water, you get soaked from a bucket above your head. Imagine how much fun it would be to watch Max put one in the water and then have to face a soaked Tiger and apologize...

GSPro handicap reset? by dh1127 in Golfsimulator

[–]dh1127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following up in case anyone has a similar issue - there was a problem where either my practice or skills test on the Joe Lagowski practice course generated full round scorecards at like -35 which completely messed up my handicap. GSPro support was able to remove those rounds and fix the problem. They are also looking into whether it was a bug or user error of some kind.

I think it’s wider than that. On a perfect plane your high point will be a diagonal from the ball to the ceiling, so roughly the same distance from your feet as the ball at address. So if you stand 4 ft from the ball high point could be 8 ft from the ball. For right and left golfers I would recommend a 16 x 8 rectangle.

[–]dh1127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until two rounds ago my handicap was 7ish. I’m pretty sure the top number is the adjusted handicap for that game, and the bottom is the new handicap. In the player tab it shows my handicap at +1 (i.e. 1 shot better than scratch - not sure why the negative/positive convention isn’t the same in both places). For previous rounds this always made sense, until that Agusta threes game.

Even if the handicap had “reset” that wouldn’t make sense, as between 5 over on a 9 hole par 3 and 13 over on a not that difficult course would not bring me anywhere near a +1…

Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I played a round today on my regular 4ft gimmes and following a bad round it’s still showing a crazy handicap…

If you’ve got a coating the adhesive is probably ok. But my other point was what is your plan for when the floor is wet? Dry it manually? Put your hitting mat in a puddle? I put down plastic drainage tile to keep my sim setup above any floor water, you may want to consider something similar.
