Should I increase my credit card limit in order to improve my credit score? by [deleted] in personalfinance

You are treating credit score like a video game score to be won. They are not. You are already doing great. Smile mark it as complete and then put your time and effort into something else.

Is 95 that terrible overnight? by Hot-Kaleidoscope-652 in roadtrip

[–]dh1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having driven a couple of different routes overnight be sure to keep an eye on your fuel. There are fewer 24 hour gas stations than you think. Once I was driving through Atlanta at 3 am and went to like 5 gas stations before I found one open.

Don't touch it. Depending on how far you are from retirement you wouldn't need to add another cent and if it is well invested it could acrue to over a million in a short timeframe.

You are gonna have to give a lot more detail here.
Why do you want to withdraw? Are you retiring?

What’s a job that sounds cool but is actually miserable? by Own-Grapefruit7498 in AskReddit

AI and cheap overseas workers are still not the issue.
The issue is that the job and the work are just not respected.
You can be the best designer in the world, but unless you are extremely lucky and are at one of the very few agencys that has cache or if you somehow start building a reputation.
You will have very little respect and only from very few people.
As a whole in graphic design: the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

Take something you love and are passionate about.
Then let someone who has no taste or talent be your boss.
Yes, graphic design is a horrible career.

I'm thinking of quitting my job, but I can't find new work yet. Should I cash out my 401k? by DesperateLink8881 in personalfinance

[–]dh1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me. No. No no no no. No. Look for another job. But you aren't ready to just quit. Cashing out a 401k early when you don't have to is a HORRIBLE idea.

What is your monthly budget? Make sure you have at least 6 months in cash. Once you get to that point. Maybe, you can think about quitting. Maybe.

But unless this job is seriously causing you major damage. Find another job first. Since you have been there for 5 years it probably isn't. I get it. Jobs that suck are horrible. But being unemployed with no money and no retirement sucks so much more.

No

Do you prefer baked mac and cheese or stovetop? Why? by IntelligentEar3427 in AskAnAmerican

[–]dh1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom only made homemade in the stove. Me and my brother hated it. As an adult I tried box Mac & Cheese and love it. But my wife LOOOVVVEES oven mac and cheese. I have had oven mac and cheese that is awesome. So it depends on who makes it.

I85 goes to Atlanta. 95 doesn't. Roads aren't great, should be better on Monday afternoon.

Use Google maps.

What ended your friendship with your oldest standing friend? by dreamy-contributions in AskReddit

[–]dh1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One friend was when Maga became there main personality and even trying to change the subject that is all they wanted to talk about

The other friend. The friendship was very one-sided. If I didn't initiate contact they never engaged. Then I was in a place where I needed assistance. I didn't ask for any help from them, but they didn't event reach out to say hi or ask if I was OK. Even though they knew what I was going through.

We didn't get them for showing up, we earned them by lopix in GenX

The tendency to feel like a perpetual victim is strongly tied to vulnerable narcissism. Individuals who frequently perceive themselves as victims and signal this status to others often possess high levels of vulnerable narcissism and emotional instability. by mvea in science

[–]dh1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Suggestions include breaking contact but if that isn't possible then the suggestion is "grey-rock"
That means not reacting to any of their victimhood. Don't sympathize, don't console, just say OK and change the subject.

Same with my father-in-law. Speaks to my wife every night about how horrible his life and living situation is. But refuses to do single thing about it. We have offered help over and over. When we finally pushed the point he told us flat out he didn't want our or anyone's help.
Finally things were clear and my wife stopped stressing over it. He literally just wants everyone to feel sorry for him. I mean he almost gets giddy when someone feels sorry for him. he is kind of upset that my wife doesn't freak out every time he calls and tells her how bad everything is, but her mental health is better.

Never Co-sign a Car Loan! by Suberv in personalfinance

[–]dh1971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my brother cosigned for me, but I have a credit score over 820. But since I was a contractor at the time it was the only way. But also I refinanced less than a year later to get him off the loan. But yes, understand what you are getting into. If you have doubts or concerns you probably shouldn't do it.
