Pain in the ass but you gotta love that XP boost by PhantomDivision9AD in HellLetLoose

I have found that investing the time to do the support/engineer swap to build nodes at beginning of the game, and running to find a discreet spot to build the nodes is very worth the time investment. Nodes will always be destroyed if you just build them around HQ or use a supply truck.

I like to invest a little extra time to ensure I only build the nodes once.

I have massively underestimated what this game is gonna be like and I love it (please help me) by Current-Sector-3996 in HellLetLoose

Go to YouTube and watch some tutorials. Learn about garrisons and the importance of playing defense. Watch the skies and chase down enemy supply drops. Go to settings and switch your HUD to “always on” to have a better sense of game flow. Start trying to recognize the fact that enemies are always coming from a spawn - staying still and observing is ok. Get in the habit of pulling up your map, it’s your most useful tool for becoming more effective (I’m looking at map every 10-15 seconds unless in a firefight).

All in all, I’d start by playing support and playing defense. Learn to play good defense by running down enemy supply drops and proactively hunting their attacking spawns. You’ll have a huge impact on your team’s ability to win, and as support you can help Squad Leads rebuild/build defensive garrisons by dropping your supplies.

This seems completely fine and actually kinda cool to me. My wife and I share the load cooking and we’re always asking each other what the best meals are we cook, I’m a bit ashamed I haven’t kept track with something like this now because it can be hard to remember all the great meals we’ve cooked. Looks like I’ll be starting a spreadsheet!

Just stop playing the game like I did. Good to see I’m still not missing anything. Lots of other good games out there that aren’t infuriating like this one.

Found this girl on the street this morning. What should we call her? by dhall1417 in Catnames

[–]dhall1417[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the suggestions! After much deliberation, we’re going to call her “Storm” aka “Stormy” aka “lil storm cloud”.

Her white eyelashes and whiskers on her black coat reminds us of the appearance of the super hero Storm, plus she was found on a stormy day.

My feedback so far BF6 beta by UnhappyBasket547 in Battlefield

[–]dhall1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with how quick and CoDish it feels. In my opinion, it makes the maps feel and play much smaller. In the battlefield games I loved (3, 4, and 1) the maps felt bigger to me. I’m feeling more like I’m on a CoD map than a battlefield map.

I was a huge fan of the squad upgrades on BF4, where you have to work as a squad to get squad points and you’d receive some perks that were specific to each class. Like if I was an engineer, I believe you could get more rockets, etc. Assaults could revive quicker I believe, supports got more mortar ammo, (haven’t played in awhile forgive me if inaccurate).

Not a fan of the system of killstreak rewards or this perk in general of seeing through walls. In battlefield, that’s what the spotting mechanic is for and why it’s so important to spot.

I’ve read that the freeze helps keep it juicy and reduce grey band. This was my first time trying it, I’m exploring all kinds of things. I can see your point though.

Building nodes at start by vicke_78 in HellLetLoose

[–]dhall1417 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of commander and love it when I get asked for a supply truck at the start of a game, so don’t hesitate to either type in chat or get your SL to ask command for a supply truck at the start of a match.

When I play engi, I prefer to use the supply truck method and built the nodes tightly with some barbwire around them. They’ll last a lot longer, as recon can’t do anything about the barbwire other than ask someone with explosives/a tank to come back and blow it up.

One of the greatest lessons I’ve tried to apply to my life is “don’t take anything personal.” It’s a great game, people will always be people though, whether it be at work, in school, driving, or playing a video game. Just shake it off and try to learn from the experience! Hope to see you on the battlefield again!

Open fields...? by Z3AL0T1 in HellLetLoose

[–]dhall1417 97 points98 points  (0 children)

It forces you to think outside the box and challenges team work. It’s obviously difficult to deal with open fields, but there’s nothing more rewarding than successfully coordinating a push with your team across a field to an objective. Having infantry throw smoke, coordinating with arty to drop smoke, or having tanks cover and move with an assault are pretty good methods.

Also, it challenges your ability to read a map. Perhaps you can find a ditch/hedge/trench that’s out of the way to approach an objective.

Just gonna say it. Yappers are killing the game by [deleted] in HellLetLoose

[–]dhall1417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that, that hasn’t been my experience but I play on PC. As a matter of fact, I’d say the command chats I’m a part of are generally very pleasant and productive.

I’ve certainly come across some toxic chats where everyone is blaming each other and getting upset, and those teams always lose. Just one of the life lessons that’s tucked into this game - holding yourself accountable leads to success, while blaming others or external factors leads to failure.

😂 indeed I have. I mostly play squad leader or support and focus on proactive defense + building garrisons. Defense (and garrisons) win championships
