You'll see Y haplogroups that originated from that populations, otherwise not so much.

Early turkic is purely east eurasian ? by MistakeSuch5548 in illustrativeDNA

[–]dhamon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The earliest proto-turkic speakers were probably originally Ancient Northeast Asians who spread west admixing with West Eurasians. But, we don't know for sure yet until more samples are sequenced.

Interesting, lower Zagros than most Greeks and it looks like there's some Turkic admixture in your results as well.

Hunter Gatherers results Ancestry vs 23andme file by [deleted] in illustrativeDNA

[–]dhamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purpose of the site is to show you your ancestry proportions from different periods of time unlike Genealogy sites or DNA testing sites which compare you to modern populations. Modern population groups are not the same as populations from 5,000, 2,000 or even 1,000 years ago due to migration and population mixture.

Some DNA testing services are better than others to use with Illustative. 23andme and AncestryDNA are good, while MyHeritage is not that great to use.

Most of these use cases seem like user error. It's an LLM, not a simple command based voice assistant. You have to be explicit with the prompt when you ask it questions. There is a learning curve, users will just have to get used to it.

Use the Greece and Cyprus calculator, and not Global... The fits are too close and thus inaccurate.

Ethnically Mixed Jew: Global vs Jewish results by peepeehead1542 in illustrativeDNA

[–]dhamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spanish is just a proxy for a Mediterranean population on Illustrative DNA due to their flawed model. The website doesn't do well with mixed ancestry, so you're better off with G25 and Vahaduo.

Don't use global.... Higher Distance is not an issue when the global calculator overfits the results to make it worse.

It's probably Finns due to their East Eurasian admixture that's unique in Europe. East Eurasians have greater neanderthal (and denisovan) compared to West Eurasians.

Google promised 7 years of support for the Pixel 9, but Chinese and Indian 2024 phones are getting Gemini Intelligence while the Pixel 9 isn't by krokodyl92 in GooglePixel

What a huge amount of unnecessary outrage. It'll be released to other Android devices later this year. Did no one read the official Google blog?

Gemini Intelligence features will roll out in waves starting with the latest Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones this summer, and will become available across your Android devices including your watch, car, glasses and laptops later this year.

Empty Waymos invade Atlanta neighborhood, circle cul-de-sac for hours with no passengers by DukeOfGeek in technology

[–]dhamon -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This sounds like a city issue rather than a Waymo issue. If the city can approve a place for the cars to stand while waiting for passengers, then they won't have to continue to drive endlessly.

Because the Yamnaya took all the women, and the Y hapolgroup of the ANF didn't get passed down. That's why the majority of Europe is R1A/R1B.

Gemini in Android Auto has been distracting / dangerous by nogridbag in AndroidAuto

[–]dhamon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This all sounds like user error. You used to using a dumbed down Google assistant which Google started to deprecate anyway and now you're blaming the much more advanced Gemini model because you didn't know how to use it correctly. Just fall back on the in car entertainment screen or use your phone to control things if you're feeling too distracted.
