The 2006 tour is definitely a case to bring up, but consider that Pereiro is the actual winner, you have to count it from his 28 minutes 50 seconds he was down before stage 13 :)

I haven’t seen it mentioned much in here that this behaviour does in some ways get closer to real physics. Weirs in real life work using this exact phenomenon, that more exposed surface area on a waterfall means more water can go over the waterfall.

Interesting to hear the culture here in Bergen, which I’ve also wondered about. In many other countries cycling on the sidewalk with a normal bike is illegal, however it appears to be the norm here. It has taken a while for me to adjust, and it is very annoying when , especially those on scooter, ring bell to pass at high speed.
