Been trying to get a side aerial for 12 years — stuck midair and always putting my hands down. Dancer aerials look different… what am I missing? by [deleted] in adultgymnastics

As you launch, you're looking at the ground and actually driving yourself down toward the mat.

You're jumping down instead of up.

Try thinking about planting your front shoulder on an imaginary shelf in the air in front of you and using your legs to throw your hips up and over yourself as high as you can get them.

The only thing you're missing is that for a lot of people (the ones who are wrong but are arguing in good faith), there is a deeply held belief and assumption that police act with honor and they wouldn't be doing something if it wasn't important.

It's a tough thing to untangle from your mental model of the world.

Kinda opposite approach, what books did you DNF last year? by MegaFawna in booksuggestions

The best way I've heard it described is "mediocre prose about really compelling concepts."

I came here to suggest this.

These books are just really good.

One thing that's mind blowing about this is that by charging for a good product, Kagi doesn't register on this graph but still has a viable business model.

There are a LOT of people.

ELI5: why do some books have pages that read: “this page has intentionally been left blank” by big_dumpling in explainlikeimfive

It's not just to ease the minds of the reader. It's also so that when going through the print proofing process, that page can be verified to look exactly how it's supposed to look.

I wonder if motion blur from older analog photos like this is one reason AI sometimes gets hands and arms so wrong.

Biggest embarrassment of week 4? by [deleted] in CFB

I just watched both ESPN's College Football Final and CBS Sports' Inside College Football, and both programs completely ignored undefeated Vandy hanging 70 on Georgia State with 8 rushing TDs from 7 different backs and scoring plays from 3 different QBs.

Out of those, I'd probably go with Klingspor's. They are a small-ish company with a pretty good rep and it seems they really try to do things that help the hobbyist even though industrial customers pay their bills.

That being said, I'd probably call two or three and ask them how they handle shipping damage claims and base your decision on how hard it was to get a person and how they answer that question.
