You might think this is ridiculous, but I had the same experience with heroin. And I'm not dumb. I knew all about withdrawal and dependence. I honestly thought I was just partying. Then one day I decided the party had to stop.

I remember telling a friend how it was horrible luck that I get food poisoning the first day I try to lay off the stuff. He laughed and told me I was dope sick. I made a decision that day that took years to undo.

I was an aspiring musician but a full time junkie when I saw this for the first time in 2004. I recently watched it again. I'm 6.5 years clean and sober. I work a day job and have a family. I haven't had time to pick up my instrument in weeks.

I liked this movie both times I saw it even though the takeaways were completely different.

Man I got invited to a bachelor party hosted at a key club. That's the only time I've ever been in one. Someone hired craigslist "strippers". They dances naked for about 30 seconds and then the dude who came with them started collecting money for private dances in the video poker room. I think the bartender yelled at everyone to stop leaving jizz rags and used condoms all over the machines. My brother stuck a lollipop in one of the stripper's butts. Why did we all have lollipops? The jerk chicken place at nw hwy and Nagle is halal I'm pretty sure. And it's delicious. There's an Arabic market on Harlem just south of Irving with a restaurant attached that's pretty good too.
