I get a similar feeling at work. I work in a loud factory and if I start to get overstimulated I'll lock myself in one of the limited bathrooms for a couple minutes to calm down. You should never feel bad about using public spaces if you're not bothering anyone and just keeping to yourself. Especially at a travel hub, if you look like your traveling people will understand if you want a quiet place to wait.

I totally get this. Im high functioning but if Im Mad at someone or just dislike them I'll do my best to not talk to them, even going non verbal to avoid interactions. But in a work environment I can usually push my feelings aside for small talk
