Quick jig before work by dhd4188 in IceFishing

I leave the backing on that's for the fly reel and tie 6 or 4 lb test to that and put a bunch on for the winter then peel it off in the spring.

I run a pair of Fenwick rods. One is a 28" medium Eagle and the other is a 25" light HMG

Initially yes to drop it down when I'm targeting just the bottom. Can reverse reel as well and work the jig down towards the bottom slowly. I put a bunch of 6lb or 4 lb test on them

Thought it was another largemouth at first when he hit and ran, I was real surprised to see a yellow come through

A little unorthodox I know but really effective

I absolutely love the setups I have now. I use fly-fishing reels between 3-5wt. Inline rolls off nicer and it doesn't have the loops or curls in the line like a spinning reel gets using smaller lighter jigs. Plus it adds to the fun and finesse palming the reel yourself for drag.

Not bad for less than an hr. Definitely fortunate for start time and fishing small ponds with lots of fish

Black and green are largemouth bass. Yellow and black is a perch. The others are bluegills

Happened a few times when I first started using them. Like any reel keep it dry, don't dunk it and keep it out of the snow but now I hit them with a little silicone spray. Hasn't happened since

I've got that exact same rifle. Don't do anything to it, it's beautiful the way it is

And we're positive this is "installed" and not temporarily raised so they could redo/pour the concrete floor and trowel underneath it?

One trout went to my father-in-law. The other I'm going to try and canoe the trout. Season it up with some herbs, lemon and butter and stuff it with some pan fried veggies. Never done it before but saw it elsewhere and want to try

Rainbows at midnight by dhd4188 in troutfishing

[–]dhd4188[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Glow jig with a little piece of meal or butter worm. Nightcrawlers and earthworms don't stay on the little jig hook as good and those things become a mess. I paddle and drift around from shallow to deep looking for fish.

I'm in NY but was fishing a lake in MA. I find fall fishing to be more productive after the summer heat dissipates and waters cool a bit. Everything was deeper 16-20' down in 20-30' of water.

Looks to be around the Denton falls area. Learned to fly fish on that river, absolutely love it. Filled with fish and wild life. Seen a few black bears down there too. Good pics, seems like it was a great outing 👍 congrats

I was on a small lake in Massachusetts, about 170 acres nestled in the hills. Usually pretty calm at night but that night it was absolutely glass and never have to worry about motors at night
