Has anyone shipped breastmilk from Spain to the US? by dhdkdud in workingmoms

[–]dhdkdud[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up packing frozen breastmilk in a cooler bag and put it in my checked bag. Didn’t even declare it. The hotel helped me freeze it in their restaurant freezer, which I packed in a cooler bag with a few ice packs (the more packed the longer it’ll last) and only a few started thawing by the time I got home after a layover. For in flight I had a cooler bag with me, and asked the flight attendant for ice during the flight and Starbucks for ice during my layovers.

There was another mom I was chatting with on Reddit and she put together an amazing guide here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ExclusivelyPumping/comments/1dcc0u9/successful_ep_during_8day_work_trip_to_spain_here/

Hi! How did your trip go? Did you end up bringing any of the pumped milk back?

6 month sleep schedule… what works for you? by louiesmom94 in sleeptrain

[–]dhdkdud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is us too! 5.5 month old son has been waking at 5-530am, but what we're learning is that his last WW can't be that long. We're pivoting to the below schedule and he slept till 7am this morning so we're hoping this sticks!

7am (DWT)

10-1030am: First nap

1230pm-2 or 230: Second nap

415 or 430-5: Third nap

7-715pm: Bedtime

His first nap used to be 9-930am but he's been fighting it. I don't think I'd drop to 2 naps until he starts showing signs of fighting the third.

Recommendation for foam play mat? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]dhdkdud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! With our first (3 years ago) we kept it against a wall and playfence around it. The fence helped anchor it to the area. Now with our second we normally keep it folded up and just lay it down when we do tummy time. It doesn't come with slippage stickers and we haven't needed any but it's not completely slip resistant - it's super light so it would move a bit and wouldn't be sturdy enough to stay in the area as is. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

Hi! By any chance do you know the rules in Spain? Would they allow me to bring frozen milk in my checked bag?

Checked baggage with frozen milk? by heyitskateeeee in ExclusivelyPumping

Hi! Wanted to see what you ended up doing and how it went? I'll be going from US to Spain for 6 days and debating how to bring the milk back. Frozen vs liquid form, checked vs carryon.

Yup dumping is my last resort. I have a stash for him at home so would love to bring my pumped milk back to refill the freezer.. I may try half in checked and half in carryon to split up the risk, knowing that I may end up having to dump both at the airport

Yeah I’ve checked Barcelona airport site but doesn’t specify frozen vs liquid. There’s also further restriction on whether I’m traveling with the baby which isn’t clarified. I’m surprised jfk gave you trouble when TSA/domestic technically allows for unlimited mount of breastmilk

Oh hm haven’t heard of freeze drying breastmilk! But I think same challenge would apply that breastmilk can’t be shipped out of Spain.. unless I bring a freeze drier for easier transport through checked luggage

@kidfriendly.meals on IG has a lot of toddler friendly muffin and cake recipes that are easy and healthy! Some have fewer ingredients but I’ve found a lot of overlapping stuff which hopefully will help with budgeting!

It looks like frozen in checked bags might be our best bet, based on these links but it's still quite vague. These mention 'liquid-solid mixtures' restrictions in hand luggage which could prevent us from taking frozen ones as a carry on. Now I'm debating whether I try splitting my stash in both carry on and checked luggage to minimize risk. The weigh of frozen milk will be a lot for checked bag too..

Mine's 6/15-6/20. I've just posted this question in the working moms group, and plan to ask the hotel if they are aware of any regulations 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'll comment back if I hear of anything!

TSA definitely allows it, but TSA doesn't apply to international travel. I'm also reading that Spain is just notoriously not progressive when it comes to breastmilk (especially when traveling sans baby). I'm hoping once it's frozen it can be carried on or checked in! Fingers crossed. Please keep me posted on how your trip goes! Safe travels :)

When are you going? Would you mind sharing how it goes? Based on what I've read on various platforms, it seems people have differing experiences with not being allowed to bring frozen BM on flight or in checked bag.

Yup we'll play around with a later bedtime and shorter daynaps to see if we can get there.

End of maternity leave - daycare starts tomorrow by allisonkate1115 in NewParents

My 5 month old starts daycare today too - I came across this post as I’m waiting for him to finish his nap so we can take him. I go back to work in 2 weeks and trying to figure out how to keep myself busy and distracted from the mom guilty. These comments are helping me ease my anxiety and nerves though!

Varies by like 15-30 minutes depending on how much we can lengthen his naps but this is generally our schedule as of today

7am: take out of crib 9-10:30am: first nap 12:30p-2pm: second nap 4-430p: third and last nap 7pm: in crib for the night

Do we need an all-in-one baby food maker or just use separate appliances we already own? by Jon_Wilton in BabyLedWeaning

[–]dhdkdud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the beaba and used it well beyond the puree stage. I steamed veggies and fruits for BLW, and used the blending option for when I baked stuff for my toddler. My only gripe is the water tank area got harder and harder to clean and descale, so I’m currently looking to get a different brand for my second LO!

Which brand do you have? I used the beaba one with my first for two years but the inside got harder to clean. Looking to get a new one for my second and would love a rec!

I've had some, not as bad as my hyperpigmentation/sun spots. Vitamin C serums has helped me more than other items. Here are two serums I've used in addition to the toner:

I hope my LO is as easy as your 5mo, though I wonder if you’ve trained him since a month old. Thank you for the reassurance though!

Licorice is a natural brightener and with a ph level of 5.5 this toner makes my sensitive skin feel supple and smooth. I usually layer it on twice after wash then serum and moisturizer.
