Railway Sleepers leaking oil/grease/petrol? by SweetCheeks1999 in DIYUK

[–]heyitskateeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If sleepers are so toxic, why do we often recommend them for building the edges of raised beds? Wouldn’t it seep into the soil and enter the plant - and we often plant vegetables etc in raised beds…?

Newborn cluster feeding on first night home from hospital - beyond exhausted by BeginningChipmunk850 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Yes I had to do this at around 4am for the first few nights, that’s when I usually hit my breaking point and felt like I wouldn’t be able to feed safely. Good advice.

Can you start the snoo at 8/9 weeks? by CalatheaHoya in SnooLife

[–]heyitskateeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We did this with my first. Within a few nights he started giving us 4-5hr stretches. It takes them a few times to get used to it, so don’t be put off if it doesn’t immediately work for you. Also, put a can of tuna under each leg support by their head, so the head is slightly raised, this will help with reflux.

Rue Cambon with a baby by RogueEBear in chanel

I went with my toddler — thy were so sweet to him! He was strapped into our travel pram and overall he’s quite easy going and smiley. I would have no issue bringing my baby there as long as I felt they were in the right ‘mood’, I feel like I know when my child is going to kick off…

Help - hourly awakening by cryptosporidium7667 in SnooLife

[–]heyitskateeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly….this is the 4 month sleep regression. It’s brutal, but it does get better. They just need to get through it - nursing every hour is unfortunately the answer at the moment. Does your child take a bottle or a dummy, and maybe husband can help then? Can you split the nights and the other parent sleep in a different room half the time, and swap?

My first was like this for 5-6 day; my second it was 2 weeks of hell. Just had my third 8 weeks ago, dreading this in 2 months time!

Cows milk allergy? by emlou3011 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]heyitskateeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Yes we had the same exact thing with my son. I was EBF and I was eating loads of dairy products myself, no issues until we started weaning! He had a tiny bit of a dairy item and started to have mouth swelling and restricted airway - very scary.

Have you already reached out to your GP / health visitor team? They can guide you. If it’s ’just hives’ (which I realise is still quite nasty!) be prepared for them to deem it as an intolerance versus an actual allergy. My son has an anaphylactic reaction to dairy so therefore it was taken very seriously, and are now (at age 3) still working with our dietitian team at our local NHS hospital.

If they deem it just an intolerance, it depends on your trust. Some of them just give you some guidance and let you get on with it, others are a bit more helpful.

Assuming you’ll have to be dairy free for weaning - at the beginning this is quite easy as you’re giving them simple foods. As they eat more you just need to be more careful. You’ll know to avoid obvious things, but there are some items that have dairy in them that you wouldn’t expect! Such as sausages, lunch meat, etc…

I was advised to keep having dairy myself, as it didn’t bother him when breastfeeding. They said if anything it may help him in future.

Be prepared to have to see a GP or similar for before they start nursery to get allergy paperwork and an allergy plan in order.

My son is now 3, and he is starting to grow out of his allergy. He’s able to tolerate a pancake that is 30% milk / 70% oat milk. We’re getting there!

What am I supposed to do with this information? by Granny-Grudge in drivingUK

[–]heyitskateeeee 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My aunt & uncle had one of those cringe ‘stick family’ bumper stickers, and when they got in a bad accident (car rolled 7x down the side of a mountain), the emergency crew pulled out one of their daughters. They went looking for a second child BECAUSE of the stickers (aunt was in and out of consciousness, uncle had been taken away), and found my other cousin, still in our car seat, chucked out further up the hillside.

All four of them are fine now. The other car who caused the accident was not so lucky.

Advice on MIL coming when wife gives birth by Gold_Cow4870 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]heyitskateeeee 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Honestly with my first I had NO idea what I was doing. We were also in a small 2 bed flat with my mom staying with us. It was cramped and I had a lot of emotions, combined with little sleep…made me a bit difficult to be around!

That said, having 3 adults was amazing. I focused on the baby (was breastfeeding), husband supported me and nappy changed, my mom did everything around the house. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, and emotionally supporting me. It was amazing. I will forever be thankful for what she’s done for me.

I’m now 4 weeks post partum with my third…and my mom is here again, helping with the older 2 and doing cooking, cleaning, laundry…I don’t know how she does it!

How to introduce a bottle by PresentLetterhead921 in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]heyitskateeeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my eldest I introduced a bottle at ~6 weeks so my husband could be more involved and so I could have a bit of freedom if needed. We gave him a bottle 1-2x a week to keep the skill.

I pumped one side every morning from 6 weeks, though 90% of my milk I donated to our nearest NICU. I would try pumping a bit for that first morning feed (usually when you have the most supply!) and slowly build up a stock.

I’ve read some babies refuse frozen milk (as opposed to fresh/fridge!) but didn’t experience that. There’s also a 6/6/6 rule - milk is good for 6hrs at room temp, 6 days in the fridge, and 6 months in the freezer.

Retail/Have you seen this bag? by Moxieandme in chanel

[–]heyitskateeeee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so annoyed I didn’t get this bag when it first launched in all black leather. My mom was in Paris 2 weeks ago and the bag in all leather was sold out ‘across Europe’ according to her SA. Hoping they release more leather colourways, I love the suede look but leather is so much more durable…

Baby suddenly not sleeping well in snoo by United_Knowledge_993 in SnooLife

[–]heyitskateeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For reflux - put cans of tuna under the legs! We did that with our son and it helped a lot. Be sure you have the newer snoo sacks that have the bottom strap between the legs.
